08 GX470 178k. Starting to see some grease build up right around the clamps on the outer CV boots. Looking to get them rebooted and examined in a couple months or is this a needs to get done asap fix? Boots themselves still look healthy with no cracking, build up is right on the metal collars.

I think FJ Cruiser oem boot kits are probably the same, comes with everything you need, boots, clamps and the correct grease for the different style joints. The inner uses polyurea based grease, the outer uses moly based grease.

Here’s the part number for the boot kit and additionally, you’ll need the cotter pins for the ends of the CV joints. A good time to replace the back side of the knuckle seals to keep water and grime away from that side of the wheel bearings. The stamped steel axle nut cover is just the right size to use as an installer for that knuckle seal.
