Is there a source for an axle boot replacement kit with the clamps grease etc?

Also where is the best place to get axles themselves? I've got a torn boot and not sure of the condition of the axle itself.

Thanks in advance.

OEM Toyota, it's a complete kit...but the bands youll likely want from pFran.
Get OEM parts from dealership, one of the discount vendors from Mud, or another outside source.

I'm in the same boat as you - plan to get a used CV from a wrecked 100

Thanks anybody know how many hours Toyota charges for all cv boots changed?

Take it to a good mechanic. No different than any other CV job. If your going to lift use @pfran42 clamp kit. Otherwise stock is fine.

toyota dealer just asked $675 for one CV non toyota.... :( something like 160 for part 515 for labor. What a joke, I am taking it some place else and will learn how to do this my self as CV boot rips are like my new wonder lust. :wrench::wrench:

Only two things suck about the 100s GAS and CV Axle Boots. :slap:

Toyota CV boots are a unique- you won't find a suitable aftermarket boot that has the same material composition- they are very tough & durable. If you are frequently tearing boots something else might be wrong with the CV, the degree or amount of lift. Are there aftermarket CVs on your truck?

All good questions , lift is 2 inch with diff drop , rake in front. nothing extreme.. I have been running larger tires.. my CV boots are lasting 1 - 3 years per side. I am going to do the after market with the idea I will need to replace them more often but in the end will save money. Toyota dealers are not even using the real deal anymore... They are starting to become hard to come by when you DD your truck. I cant be with out my truck 2 - 5 days , I start going into with draws and the wife says I get cranky.... :hillbilly:

Just a follow up, I had serious tears in both cv boots I noticed when changing brakes. I ended up bringing the truck to my local dealer as it is my daily driver and needed a quick solution. I decided to have them change the cv axles with reman units and put on oem boot kit, It was about $900 total and I even talked them into letting me keep my original axles they wanted to return for a core charge but they let me keep them as consolation for a scheduling mistake they made. All in all I'm happy I plan on having the originals rebuilt and keeping as spares. My 100 needs to hold on for another year or so as my dd then I can build it. Thanks to those who've chimed in.

FYI the new oem axles were going to add $600 to the bill which is why I want reman. All in all I don't think it was a terrible price hopefully this thread will help somebody in the future who ends up discovering their boots ripped and needing a fix.
