cutting out rocker panels (1 Viewer)

one of my rocker panels is pretty rusted out and the other has a decent dent from the p.o. i'm really thinking about cutting them out and replacing them with square tubing. i did a search and found a few threads on it but nothing much. has anyone done this? do you see any major problems doing this? i don't have much to lose so i might just go for it.

Not sure if you saw what Kevin Rowland did to the rockers on his 60. That guy does amazing work. I figure that the rockers on the 80 should be similar:

Yep did the same thing on my 55. If I had it to do over again I would do it on the 80 too. Much cleaner in my opinion.

I'm pretty sure I'm just going to do it. I think I'll hire a real welder as my skills are not up to par. I also have some rust behind The rear wheel and I might just cut that out and do the same thing. Ill post pics once I start. I am a little worried about the sun roof drains but ill figure it out.

Think less about it and dive in, otherwise you may still be talking about it a year from now.

yeah its going to happen but i need to find a good welder. if its done well i think it will look ok but if i try and weld it i think it will look like crap.
