Please respond here if you have an interest in this. A fellow mudster has offered to look into a group buy of custom made clear rear marker lenses. These would replace the stock (red) lenses on the 80's rear quarter panel. With more and more guys going to clear lenses all around, I began a search to see if they were already in production. It seems they may be pretty rare, so Nakman stepped forward to say he would check into having a batch made up for us. He'll check with his molder and see if we have generated enough interest here for a viable group buy, and then let us know the verdict. Nakman has already sold a number of custom clear lenses for the ARB bullbars that many guys have. Maybe someone that has those can comment on fit and finish etc, and post a few pics. They look pretty sweet from what I have seen.

So, again, if you're at all interested in obtaining these clear lenses in the near future please post up so we can begin tallying numbers.

TIA,

TY

PS: This is the thread and post where Nakman generously suggested he could check into the production of these custom lenses.

If the price is reasonable for what it is I'm in.

Here is a picture from the other thread that gives a peek at what the clear ARB lenses look like. They are on a great looking 80 owned by member nmostofi .

T, Im sorry about this thread i did contacted the vendor unfortunately they dont carry or sell the 80s rear side marker anymore.I guess the 80s getting old (8 yrs in row) and not popular as the 100s anymore.
Anyway, If you can custom made the CRYSTAL clear rear side marker count me
in BUT if you cant ill pass... and YES im willing to pay extra cost for CRYSTAL clear.

Thank you-

They won't be crystal clear- they'll have the same geometry & surface finish as the exting lenses.. both inside and out. Just imagine your red lens, shot with a clear material.

I parted ways with my last 2 sets of ARB lenses in Moab.. I will get a few more of those made as well and contact you other guys. Please just PM me for more sales interests, this is in tech and all..

tech content: to remove the lenses you'll need to use a philips head screw driver, a #1. If there's a gasket, reuse it. :) ;)

Tim's ARB lenses are great! I am very happy w/ the set that I got from him. I would recommend them to anyone.

Thanks Tim for the lenses again.

Nakman, that fine if its not Crystal clear i know its hard to make the crystal lens, but hey if you can get close to the pic i post (Same pattern) I'm IN
definitely no further question.By the way do you have prototype?
Let me know-

Thanks

This one is a little more complicated that I initially thought... I removed my RR quarterpanel lens, and noticed that there are two separate pieces, bonded together. there's the red lens, then a black ABS internal part that the light housing clips to. I guess they're bonded together to insure a good water-tight seal? Anyway, so instead of pouring the same mold twice to get a set, like we do with the bumper lenses, it's now 4 separate molds & 4 separate parts: the lens, the inner lens piece, both lefts and rights.

That said, this won't be quite as cheap as I was hoping, we could be looking at $60-$70 per set. Is that still reasonable to you guys? I'm working on getting another set of lenses to play with off of a totaled rig, and will know more once we can start cutting into them. Still a couple weeks out on this one...

I've also included a picture of the bumper lens, to give you an idea of the part clarity. As soon as I have some more sets of those ready I'll let you other guys know.

Nakman thanks for keeping us updated, I am still interested and looking forward to what you will come up with :)

Nakman , count me in. I'd be interested to see if we could delaminate the abs from the lens so we could reuse it for the lenses you manufacture. If that is out of the question then I'm more than happy buying the complete product you will provide.

Pop one of your lights off and you'll see what you're up against. Gently peel the gasket away, then you'll see that the two lens pieces are glued together.. it'll be tough to separate them without fubaring both pieces. I'd also prefer to just swap the lenses and reuse the inner part, but I'm not sure that's possible.
