I'm curious to find out if anyone would be interested in front or rear aluminum bumpers. I included a few pictures of bumpers the company makes... currently none are made for the 100 series but they are willing to make. The bumpers weigh about 45-50lbs making it much lighter on the IFS.
Bumpers will be priced between $1000-1300, I'm talking to the maker and he might give a price cut on how many are interested.

It's the same or more price range among the many others including ARB....But I assume the strength will be less than the steel bumpers...so only driving factor is the weight....about 50% less..

Man..we are getting lot's of choices for 100's now...way to go..

The 100 is hard to make a bumper that looks right. Put one of those from the fjc up to a 100 and it'll look ugly.

Tjm. But there isn't any dealers anymore

This is a company similar to TJM but located in the Santee, California. They would need a loaner 100 for a week or so to fabricate the aluminum bumper for proper fitment. I've been talking to this dude, Travis, and he's more then happy to start a design after I figure out how many maybe interested.... he said approximate weight of bumper with a 12,000lbs winch with synthetic line should weigh about 120-130 lbs. I think they look pretty cool, I really wanted an aluminum TJM and there is only one dealer in the US... Located in Miami, FL but he has been too busy lately to respond.

It would be a totally different design, he said it would get it to match the body style of the cruiser and make a high approach angle for attackin' the rocks.

If I can't get a loaner out in Cali I might just design my own CAD for a bumper and e-mail it to him to make one for me....

Search "shrockworks", we already have had a group buy but it didn't go anywhere. Since we have Slee, Bump it Offroad, and ARB bumpers already tested, and designed for the 100, there really isn't a need to get a group buy for a different style bumper. I could be wrong though. I think you just going to have to go to a shop and have them fab up a one of a kind. Either that or wait for a TJM to pop up. But that is unlikely.

I think the easiest way is buy a slee (easiest) or a used ARB and start cutting stuff off, like Snook did with his ARB.

The 10. Is hard to make a pretty bumper for. Put one of those fjc style bumpers up to a 100 and it'll look ugly. I won't allow someone in Cali to drop their 100 off to get yet another bulky bumper designed before we get someone to drop their truck off for headers. I'll go Kennedy on them and setup a blockade.

haha 1loudLX is is dying to become 1xtraloudLX with some Thorleys!

TJM told me they still ship to him so that shouldn't be a problem... Maybe I need to touch up on my Spanish lingo.

Specter Off-Road Land Cruiser Parts - 229-503P Big Tube Bar

SOR has an aluminum front bumper on sale right now. It is a little bulky. And it is polished not the black finish they show in the photos. It is pretty cheap though and only 74 lbs. My steel bumper with similar tube work weighs in right at 130 (I'm thinking it was 128 or so).

The thing I don't like about aluminum bumpers is that if they are hit hard on a rock they tend to crack. Steel will bend before it does anything else. But aluminum is so rigid that it can't flex. I also would have a hard time wheeling with aluminum bumper hearing that aluminum peel off as I hit a rock. With that said, an aluminum bumper would be perfect for more an Expedition Style rig or someone who is building a truck for looks rather than to really use it off road.

I've seen the FJ Cruiser bumpers that the Co. in Santee makes. They appear to be a quality unit and they spent a great deal of time making it fit the lines of the FJ. I imagine they could do the same for the 100. The biggest problem with the 100 is developing a mounting system that doesn't require you to hack off the brackets. For me it was a no brainer doing the cut, but for a lot of people that would be a deal breaker. Their Ford bumpers are huge and I didn't care for the looks of them. I'm more of a fan of the Road Armor type look for fullsized trucks.

I totally disagree with this..more models of bumpers we have, as buyers we will have more choices....Slee may be the easiest but has been the longest front bumper in the making....and it's still not ready after so many years...and it won't be cheap either..

What I am saying is when we have more choices depending on the price, strength, look, durability, off road capability...then people can make their choice......

So anybody wants to make a front/rear bumpers..I will say bring it on...

spoken like a true american!

The reason I want an aluminum alloy bumper is because of the weight factor, I drive mainly a city cruiser that has 4x4 option when needed. Which I love to use whenever possible!

Steel also has no elasticity, so in an impact the full force is directed to your chassis, engine mounts and ultimately the occupants of the vehicle. Also, I hate rust and I love Florida/ the east coast!

Any word on these for 200s?

You know this is a 3+ year old thread and the 100 forum right? :-)

TJM is back in the states. You might want to ping one of the vendors (Slee?) and see if they can point you to the answer you're looking for.

You mean we have several companies making the same *#$&ing bumper. Oh, and one that looks like a character from the movie "Cars"

HA! just noticed how old this thread is. ;-)
