I heard slee offroad has cup holders ready for sale.

I got an email from Mike at ultimate cup holders:

I’m not sure about the Land Cruiser. As general guidance, for it to work you'd want at least 5 inches and no more than about 6.5 inches of height at the side of the tunnel measured from the floor to the lower edge of the console trim where they'd slip under. You’d want to take the measure at a point near the front edge of the seat where it meets the tunnel where the holder would be installed. Also, the side of the tunnel should be relatively vertical. Doesn't have to be a perfect 90 degrees, but 45 degrees isn't going to work very well. Last, there needs to be a good spot for it, so seat adjustment handles, an irregularly shaped area at the floor, etc., can be in the way in some cars.

The only difference in the various models is the length of the arm that slips under the edge of the trim that sits over the tunnel. The versions for the BMWs are about 8.5” tall overall and the versions for the Porsche are about 1” shorter. So, from the point where the arm would slip under if yours is on the taller side of those measures, then the BMW E39 would be the better, if shorter, then the Porsche.

If you can check the measures against the above I should be able to give you a better idea which if any would be better.

Also at some point soon I’ll have another similar but more universal version but that’s probably a few months away at this point.

Thanks, appreciate your interest. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to help.

I am out on the road so I don't have access to my LC to get the measurements/pics for a couple of weeks. As soon as I can get and talk to Mike I will repost

you could get around that 45* hang up by building a spacers of some sorts so the cupholders could work @ the 90* angle. I didn't feel like reading the whole thread again but did you look at the Land Rover cupholder idea. I've seen several people talk about these with the only complaint being that it doesn't match the color very well. I'd just scuff it up and paint it black.

I actually really like the LR cup holders but I have a small problem with the way my cd player works. I have a 7" Nav/dvd player screen that folds in and out of the dash and if I have the LR cupholder with a drink in it my screen won't fold in/out. I know there is a very easy fix to this but it is a problem I would rather not deal with if I don't have to. Plus I can two of these other cup holders for the price of one of the LR's :p

So what about building some type of mounting plate that will take the angle out of the ultimate cupholders position?

That's very possible... like I said I am out of town working for a while so I don't have access to my LC but as soon as I get home I will be looking at it to figure out what I can/can't do!

You need more screws to hold that in.... Yuck, Yuck...

huh? It's using the proper amount supplied by the manufacturer. I don't need it to rip out of the cheap 13 year old plastic on a heavy washboard road. Im a big fan of overbuild rather than under build and a huge 32 ouncer goes flying off onto the floor while driving :meh:

Hey I like that...where did you find it?

West Marine.

I think he's referring to the appearance of the bright silver bolt heads. It wouldn't bother me, I have that bright silver and black thing going on with my ugly console. If one really hated the silver a little black paint would go a long way.

cup holder solution

Okay, forget the graco holder - and the jokes.
This is what I have now. Better looking and more compact.

As a Graco weekend wheeler owner, I second that :D That stroller has six cup holders, that 3x the Cruiser...
Nice and resourceful solution, but what's up with you yack seat covers? :flipoff2:

graco! - lol, that's too funny. well, I searched for graco images and discovered both upper level cup holders are graco. the front dual cuppie is very steady and works great.

yeah, I'll admit I've been called inventive and resourceful, amongst other things.

the seat covers?!? hey now, they happen to be genuine aussie sheepskin - not the fake scrape or muskrat stuff.
the interior was originally cloth on my '91. i have been slowly converting to leather but the front seats are still cloth. and i personally prefer the feel of sheepskin against bare skin (now, now, let's not go there) over the rough feelin' factory cloth. neways, they look a lot better in person. and they're cool in summer and warm in winter.

thanks for the comments!
