Looks like I have tracked down a 4BD1T with 135K miles, its a 5spd truck but I do not think that will be an issue?

Just saw this thread and I'm stoked! Great news for the 80 scene.
Do you know if cummins or isuzu disels swaps have any issues with emissions? I'm also in the Portland, Or area.
Is a lift required for the cummins engines? I noticed someone asked about the isuzu engine.
How does the all wheel drive fare for the 94-95 kits with the a442? Is it still retained?

The transmission type does not matter with the Isuzus. The only thing I need to be aware of with the Isuzus is if you have an engine from a non-NPR application you must tell me how the rear crankshaft seal is retained (in it's own housing or in the transmission adapter) and I need to know if the engine is a 6BG1T as these use different size crankshaft bolts.
If you have an engine from an NPR you have nothing to check.
69rambler,
Now you really have me thinking here about this NPR option.... The only conversion I've herd about was the guy in NJ from Mud. ** EDIT** I take that back, that was a Mitzu Diesel... You must have some demands for these going into 80's in order for you to go into production. Do you know of any rigs in OR that have this completed swap? I'd really like to check one out, as the idea of keeping my drive train toyota is very appealing for my application.

Are the GMC panel trucks the same in terms of drivetrain as the Isuzu NPR? I know they use the 4bd engines.

We sell adapters for the 3.3 Cummins to the V6 Toyota 5 speed transmissions.
If you want high revving tire burning power put a small block in your Toyota. An LS motor will destroy the wildest Mercedes diesel for a small fraction of the cost.
If you want a real 30+ MPG Tacoma with more torque than the 3.4 the 3.3 is your huckleberry.
We make parts for swaps that make sense.
Where are you located? A friend of mine owns a 4x4 shop in Ohio and he will do it.

I'm not sure that taking out a really great engine (the Toyota 3.4) and putting in a reefer/gen set engine (Cummins 3.3) or tractor engine (Kubota V2203) is a swap that "makes sense". At least for me. Obviously an LS could be a tire fryer and destroy *most* Mercedes diesel engines out there, but an LS is no diesel. Nor will it get 30+ M.P.G
Here's a question to guys currently with these setups in there fj80 what's your mpg
Wheelingnoob said:As far as I can tell its not been done in a 80 series yet. Supertech on here swapped a 4D34 mitsu into his 80 sucsessfully and has had good results.
I have no issues making the Isuzu 4BD1T/2T work in my 80 series. Slowly collecting parts for it now, going to reserch what one I want (1T/2T) while I get the rest of the parts for my swap.
Having a company making the adpater from the 4BD to the Toyota trans is a huge help and step in the correct direction to make this swap a reality.
Why Isuzu over the Mitzu...? You seem to have been on this path for a bit now, help me to understand you choice.
