Non-running 2005 with approx 250k miles. Long shot, but posting here for any interest before I have a local “cars for cash” pick it up for 4k.
I’m looking for 4k obo to offset the 4Runner I replaced it with.
History: I purchased it from the original owner when my kids were little and passed it to my son when he started driving. Only past issue I can think of was the radiator failing in 2018. No problems since then until an electrical issue kept it from starting one day. My mechanic ultimately found a melted wire and had it running for a week before my son parked at CVS and couldn’t get it started again. Towed it back to my mechanic where he looked at it whenever he had time over the past year while my son was away at college. There was damage to the timing belt and he thinks something happened with the engine that affected the timing and damaged the belt. He replaced everything he suspected but he can’t figure out what the issue is. He removed what he replaced so I wouldn’t have to pay for it, so the water pump, fan, belts, etc are currently removed. He doesn’t think it’s worth continuing to dump money into it to troubleshoot. My son and I both loved this truck but I don’t have the expertise to troubleshoot myself nor the patience to leave it with my mechanic for another year.
