I was wondering if anyone knew of a good 4x4 mechanic in the western CT area? I know there is one in Wilton but its a bit far from me...

thanks a lot

Are you lookin for a shop/business or do you just need some work done? I know quite a few people including myself who work on cruisers.

need some work done...having some tire wobble problems and think its my knuckle but not 100%. I just had leg surgery so i cant do any work for several months....what town are you in? im just east of danbury....

Well, I took mine up to Cruiser Solutions in New Hampshire, so that's a bit farther than Wilton... They do specialize in restorations, lots of 40's. Just don't give them any more work until they finish mine!

Yoda - where in central CT are you? I'm in Branford, and I'll need to find help closer than New Hampshire. Have you worked on diesels at all?

there is tyke moses in pownal vt...he does some cruiser work...he has a small buisness called "poor wallys land cruiser emporium" i highly recomend him!!! pownal is right over the mass border should not be all that far from ya...he has lots of parts. a good guy to deal with.
his email is farmboy@sover.net

tell him johnnyc sent ya

I second Cruiser Solutions in New Hampster. My 60 is up with Tedd now.

What about Fox Fab? Aren't they in CT?

Surprised nobody mentioned Mike Fox. He's a MUD regular that moved into working on Toyotas full time a year or so ago [dont quote me on timelines:doh: ]

Here's a link:

Hint: he spends most of his time in the 25 forum.

Fox does great work, but he's really busy. I wanted a rear bumper for my 100, but he wasn't interested at the time.

You might want to ask this question down in the clubhouse section in the Yankee Toys area. There are a couple other shops in CT that I haven't seen mentioned. The YT guys can point you in the right direction...

HTH,

I'm more of a fab shop than a mechanical shop, but I could take a look at it if you 'd like. Wobbles can only come from a few places, the rims/tires themselves, wheel bearings, kingpin bearings, or tie rod ends.

Thanks,

Mike

theBK & creeker- I'm located around the Middletown area. Not on mud regularly, but email me at yodafrick@earthlink.net

creeker- I work in the Branford/Pine Orchard area frequently and know the Creek. Haven't worked on diesel engines, but work on cruisers and am in the market for a diesel myself. I saw you were in the market for a BJ60, did you find one?

i had new tre's put in, tried a tire swap so im down to knuckle i think....

is there a new SUV performance shop that opened by the danbury mall? i remember getting a postcard for it a few weeks ago...but cant find it online now.

Farmington Motorsports had been maintaining my 40 till I bought it, They can fix anything. Farmington CT. 7 minutes off 84.

I wouldn't let them touch an FJ40. They probably specialize in rims and cold air intakes for H2's and Yukons. Take it to somebody who knows what they're doing. Look in the Yankee Toys club forum. There's a guy in eastern or central CT who works on Cruisers.

Mike Fox is in Southeastern CT

Spencer is in Meriden CT 203.687.0030

Both do good work.

I was wondering if you remembered w the specialist is in Wilton, CT? Thx

Resurrecting this old thread. Looks like Mike Fox (foxfab) is out of business? Any other recommendations for work on an FJ60?

Any experience with Go Motors in East Lyme, CT? Says they specialize in 3rd gen 4runners, but I've also seen 80 series LCs out front.
