Looks awesome! Was in Silverton this December which was beautiful and fun but im sure a lot more accessible in July lol
Without a doubt. There’s so much to explore and every single inch of it is breathtaking :p

Is there a general guideline as to how well vehicles should be equipped? I believe I have a fairly capable rig but I don't have bumpers, winch, lockers, radio... and very minimal recovery gear.

All of the trails that we run (which is basically all of them in the area) can be ran with a stock cruiser and a set of decent ser A/T tires (for puncture resistance). A few trails you’ll have to be more careful on but there’s really no need for bumpers, lockers, 35s, etc.
It’s always recommended to have recovery gear but if you are on our guided runs the trail leaders will have that covered.
You can pick up an FRS radio for $30 at Walmart to stay in touch on rides.
All in all we will have rides for every skill level and build. From bone stock to fully built.
As long as your Cruiser runs and you have a spare your good! 👍

To my experience in this area, there's only one obstacle where you wish you had a locker....It's on Poughkeepsie.
I think this recent picture is that obstacle (called the wall)

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Everything else is straight forward...the drop in to the switchbacks on Black Bear is terrifying but not difficult for your truck.

Looking to make the trip from the east coast. Very excited!
Stopped in Ouray when I picked my LC from the west coast last year. Absolutely beautiful part of the state. Can't wait to get back there!

Looks like “The Wall”. Theoretically, it may be possible in an IFS without lockers with perfect line. I’ve only done it once and certainly needed both front and rear lockers. Throwing the front locker on half way up felt like hitting the easy button. I really do t like to use my front locker but it was either that or back half way down.

Here’s me doing the wall. This is my third attempt. It’s a great case study illustrating what happens when poor lines are taken and spotter and driver are not on the same page (all my fault). There is about a full minute of me stuck half way up debating with spotters about using the front locker. It’s kinda funny as well as humbling. The audio of my spotters wife and daughters is awesome. The part at the beginning (of my 3rd attempt) when his daughter says “maybe he should take the bypass” is priceless.

The parts of the trail to the wall and after it are no joke either. In general, yes a stock 100 or 200 CAN do most of Ouray but probably SHOULDN’T do certain parts without at least sliders or just be willing to damage running boards and Tupperware.

Yeah, and it's only a small tug to get it done with help. There are many bad lines and a couple better ones (To my recollection). But it's been over a decade since I was there last so things change. Last time I did it, I was in an fzj80 with a lunchbox locker in the back and that was plenty. Triple locked walks it. Sliders and skids take the anxiety out of it. I've seen numerous lesser vehicles break bad there and require expensive tow services as a result. An H2 Hummer broke multiple suspension components including a front UCA and steering link, it wasn't getting out on its own...

I've run all the better known trails except for Poughkepsie in a stock 60 series and a stock 100-series, but both had BFG All-terrains. My 100 now has sliders and a beefy rear bumper but still the stock suspension and I lead all the trails but I will bypass The Wall on Poughkepsie (although I could probably do it). So the only mod I would suggest is make sure you have some durable all terrain tires that are more resistant to sidewall punctures than your average street tires. I do recall bending a running board way back when my truck was newer but that's just encouragement to rip them off and install some sliders.

riddle me this, batmudders: why wouldn't you use all the ammo you got (lockers....) on what is known as a brutal section?

riddle me this, batmudders: why would you not use all the tractions features (lockers, dr yota's traction control, etc) at your disposalb before when running a known ball buster climb?

The advise i have always heard/seen/been lectured from more experienced wheelers is to load for bear prior to getting in any situation (lock center dif before hitting dirt, etc.).

Backup plan: detour if in any doubt (especially noting the 💲💰 recovery if you mess up).

this ain't no johnson valley....nota bene....never been but see a lot of supported carnage in videos.

thant's not my story and I aint sticking to it.

Some do so to challenge themselves and their ability to pick good lines.

And in my own case, I rarely use my front locker. It limits steering quite a bit and in a lot of cases, letting ATRAC work the front is actually better. This is mostly true (in my experience) in slippery situations.
