Guys I am working on opening a LC shop in the St Pete/Tampa area. I have a factory trained master mechanic that all he has worked on for the last 20 years are 40/60/70/80/90/100/120/150/200 series Land cruisers LOL.. We will be doing general maintenance to full on engine swaps, rebuilds, and conversions.
You are filling a void. I have a friend in St Pete that has been sending his FJ40 to a shop on the other side of the state due to the lack of anyone here that will work on it. Spending plenty and getting unsatisfactory results.
Guys looking for a shop as we speak.. Will hope to be able to help out other cruiser owners the first of the year. Cheers and Happy Holidays
There's Amazonia 4x4 but the last I heard they went out of business.
The reality is (although many try to believe this isn't true) is that Land Cruiser really aren't that special or unique mechanically. Any mechanic should have no trouble working on one. Wether that mechanic is going to do a good job or not is based on their skill and care, not because they "aren't good enough" to work on your Toyota. Just remember that every Land Cruiser was sold at a dealership at one point and people took them to the corner mechanic for service.
Very true on a many levels. Unlike Land Rovers....
Land Rovers aren't any more technically challenging, they just need a bit more patience...
REDrum, I see you have roots in Costa Rica and are in the Coffee business.
My little sister (born Tica) is in the coffee business and now works for Mayorga Coffee.
I went to Mal Pais back in the late 70's when it was 4WD only road to get there.
