Hi everyone:

Sorry I haven't been able to make meetings of late...been working like a dog at the hospital. But...it's that time of the year to start thinking about Cruiser Days again! Thanks to all who helped out last year, Cruiser Days 2005 was a great success with over 80 Cruisers showing up. Let's build on that success and work hard to make Cruiser Days 2006 even better!

First thing's first...we need a date. looking at my schedule, I think that the best date for myself would be the weekend of August 26 & 27, 2006. How does this work out for everyone else? It gives plenty of time for us to get the days off...so hopefully there will be another strong showing of Club members just like last year.

I'm thinking of Saturday August 26 for the show, and Sunday August 27 for trail rides once again. If we need to, we can even make the show Friday afternoon on August 25, then take the weekend for trail rides and overnight camping for those interested (I'd like to camp this time). I think that the trail rides should really warrant some attention in terms of organization as it would be really fun to have a bunch of Cruisers out and wheel with people that we don't normally get to wheel with.

Ideas?...start posting them up! Thanks.

Are we going to advertize in th Trails, maybe the TLCA could sanction our event, I don't know what it takes to do that, mayby the River Shiver people could let us know how it is done.

As for T-shirts, I will probably stick around the area at least till fall, so that means I should be available to organize that again. If we have the same T-shirts (just a different colour (maybe grey))(I didn't know that was an option last year  ) and the same logo (just a different colour they would probably be dirt cheep (I think under $7) and we could make a few bucks, having said that, with the art work and screens set up last year cost was about $9somthing a shirt, and with what we sold at the show we pretty much broke even and still have a bunch left over. I could try to get Deny to draw up a new logo. (But he's more into the road kill thing now :ban: )

If that weekend sticks it looks like I will be days off, which is great!

I liked the show on Sat, trail ride to camp on Sat night, and some wheeling Sunday before packing it in.

Agreed about the trail runs. I look forward to using this as the reason to get out and expore :D.

T's...yup, grey and perhaps a few other colors. White shows dirt too quickly.

Invite all the local Toyota dealers to set up a booth as venders?

Have determined vender area?

What about a swap meet area...or simply leave it be?

TLCA support would be cool. Was there something said about seed money last year that was available from the TLCA?

Combined Raffle/50-50 with 50/25/25 (50% to winner) (25% to club) (25% to a charity)?

I will help in whatever way I can Stone. G&S will be a sponser again, and that may tie up some time...but whatever I can do I will.

What about confirming the date 1st, then having cards made up with the location and date details, so club members can place them on Cruisers they see for 6 months before the event?

Sign me up Stone.... raflle tickets, parking police, whatever you need....

I liked the idea of the overnight campout and wheeling after the event. Saturday / Sunday. This time I think I will take the Sunday off of work to enjoy some wheeling for the day.....

Looking forward to another successful event.

For T-shirts, how bout a deep green or orange? Tank Tops for the ladies?

I'll give you road kill!:flipoff2:

I offer my help anyway I can, can't really do much when I am so far away, but I will definately help out, day of.

I second Gregs idea where after the date, place and time are finalized, make up cards to put on other cruisers, that will probably get the biggest response, since there are so many cruisers out there that don't know about the whole cruiser culture.

Also getting the TLCA involved would also be cool, any little extra help would make the show that much better.

Cheers,
Deny

Great idea, Gregory. We could even extend the idea for membership recruitment: Every member has cards to leave under any TLC they see. The cards could have bullet points re advantages of CC membership, discounts, etc. Blue sky idea: Member with most "referral" new recruits gets free membership renewal. Eh, just a thought. :)

No objections on the date so far, so I think we'll just write them down in ink now...Cruiser Days 2006 is going to be August 26, & 27th for sure.

We'll need to come up with a game plan soon, and I'll start to let vendors know the date. We'll also need to assess the location, and see if there are any better alternatives. We also need to get together and see who wants to volunteer for what. Several people have already voiced their enthusiasm...so we need to get organized.

I apologize for not being able to make the last couple of meetings due to my work schedule, folks. Had it not been for being scheduled to work, and feeling too guilty about calling in because the unit is so short staffed right now, I would have attended those meetings in a heartbeat.

I would like to ask Clarence to be my assistant coordinator for Cruiser Days 2006. I think that his enthusiasm and organizational skills would benefit our event greatly. Clarence, if you would like to accept the responsibility, I would like to talk with you in greater detail about it when we go wheeling on Saturday.

As with last year, we need to have another strong showing of Club volunteers to help make this year's event a success. I am going to put up a preliminary list of positions that need to be filled, and if there are already some volunteers signed up, their names will be listed under the category that they have indicated interest in. Please feel free to post up ideas of any more positions that need bodies, and I will include them in this list.

Assistant Event Coordinator: Clarence Giesbrecht.

Cruiser Days 2006 promotional material designer (posters, etc.) (Stone has prelimenary poster ready...but if someone with a better design comes along...)

Membership/TLCA Coordinator for the event: Bill?

MC: Tentatively Clarence?

T-Shirt Sales: Jim & Lindsey. Denny.

Raffle Ticket Sales: Petra.

Security/Hosts/Parking: Jeff S.

Sound System: Phil.

Clean-up: Jeff S.

Trail Guides:

*When you post up to volunteer for the event, please include your REAL NAME, as I don't know every one of your handles here in MUD. Thanks! :)

We also need to discuss where we would like to go for Club trail rides the day after. I personally feel that we really need to get this part of the event organized really well, as it can become a great part of Cruiser Days in the near future. Some of our visitors travel quite a ways to get to the event with their Cruisers, and it would be a real treat for them and us to be able to take our trucks and wheel together before they have to go home. I'm going to start a separate thread for your suggestions for our Cruiser Days 2006 trail rides. Please post there. Thanks.

I would also like us to brainstorm as to what types of activities we can do during the event to make it a little bit more interesting. I'm not talking about huge entertainment ideas...just something that we can do other than park our trucks and mingle. Also, many have young families and bring their young ones to the event...can we have something for the kids to do?

Last year everyone did an excellent job of soliciting prize donations from Cruiser and Toyota vendors. We need to do the same this year. It's time to start thinking about where each of us will go to see who is willing to support Cruiser Days 2006 with prize donations.

I will start working on a plan on how to possibly involve the TLCA in this event. I would be great to invite TLCA officers and representatives to the event and maybe have someone from the Club write an article for submission to Toyota Trails (again). I'll also ask some of the RMLCA members for input in organizing a TLCA event. Might not happen for us this year, but maybe soon. Would also be great to have 4WD Toyota Owner's Magazine show up and cover our event again this year.

Ideas? Post 'em up! Thanks.

Location to the NSSS again? If so, lets get it booked, and the flyers made up. :D

I wish work would let me know what shift I am going to be on in Aug, as I can not commit until I know what shift I am on. When I find out, I will fill in wherever I can to assist.

I have been scouting out locations the past little while, Heritage Park in Chilliwack being one of them...but I agree per our phone conversation last night, GB. Maybe we should just stick to NSHS for one or two more years and then consider another venue. So I will contact the school board ASAP and get it booked.

Flyers/Posters
If everyone's okay with the posters that I made up last year, I could easily update the info on it, tweak it a little, and then print those out again. But if someone wants to take on this aspect of the event and would like to lend a fresh look to the poster, by all means let me know as soon as possible. I'd like to get those out at least a few months before the event.

I'll do raffle ticket sales...and if my kids are around they can help out with the sales as well. We should probably have a couple people doing ticket sales anyway....

Petra Niemeyer

OK Guys, ask your gals if they want to help with the raffle tickets....the more the merrier... and YES, I will be there tomorrow. Greg and I worked on the truck abit today,(window issues and auto lock wasn't working) and the 74 had his shoes swapped out for the mudders. .. LOOK OUT!!!

See ya all for breaky...

I think Rob Milson volenteered himself for MC, and phil said he would do audio agiain this year.

As for other things to do at the show, how about having some wheeling videos of us being showed I know Derek has some good (and bad) moments captured on film I don't know if it would be possible to have some of it is playin on a tv some where on a continuous loop or something. We should get more footage on some of our runs coming up too, Maybe some pictures of cc runs

Also I think fitchick had a special request for some Girl T-shirts, any other suggetions, I have to go in and Talk to the guy soon, hopfuly before next meeting.

What colour cruiser?
What colour shirts (I suggested grey)?
How many?
Tank Tops?

I think the guy can also do stickers and key chains, if you want any of that done let me know.

The cruiser colour: I vote for Burgandy on a GreyT-shirt (if you go grey that is).
How many did you do last year? How many were left over? Maybe take an average...(suggestion)

Ladies Tank Tops: Burgandy Truck on a Grey Tank OR a Pink Truck on a Black Tank.... (ladies I need some input!!) .... Do a size run - S, M, L. Maybe determine the quantity based on the amount of "Small" T-shirts sold last year...

Figuring how many trucks will register might help determine how many Ladies Tanks and t's to do up...

I'm going to be dropping by JP Toyota tomorrow and chat with Gord and/or Dan regarding the concern about using "Cruiser Days" for our event (as posted in the meeting thread). Hopefully we can get this sorted out...and if they let us continue using the name, then I think I'll get it in writing. :)

I'm also going to be dropping by the main Surrey School board facility rentals office to book North Surrey's parking lot for the event.

I like the idea of the Club purchasing a few pop-up canopy shelters and using it at Cruiser Days. I think if we can purchase at least five and put them up in various grassy locations in the parking lot, it will provide participants and guests some shelter from the sun. We can use these canopies for Club events all year...like when camping during club runs, etc. They are fairly inexpensive to purchase, and are small enough to be easy to store. What do you guys think?

I think good idea about the tents...

and also about "Going Coastal: Cruizer Daze".
