Talking with a few of you guys this past meet, I learned that there has been quite a bunch of wheelin before you even make it to Moab. CM09 dates are Wed. April 29th-Sun. May 3rd, so when do you think a majority of CSC guys will head out, and then get back to Phoenix?
Im trying to get firm dates on this trip so my wife can take all the days off from work. Also, do the CSC guys usually stay in the same accomodations in Moab, or does everyone just do their own thing? I hope to have had the surgery for my back done and a good amount of recovery time under my belt before the trip.

Planed date of departure is Saturday 4-25, returning Sunday 5-3. In Moab most do their own thing, some camp, others hotel.

Michael wants posh accommodations this time - Motel 6 ain't cuttin' it no mo'

except if we would do the camping thing on White Rim or the overnighter, of course

we don't have our plane tickets yet; our departure date depends on how much maintenance we can get done on the trucks in the intervening months... we will likely fly back Monday 4th th or Tuesday 5th

...

"posh accommodations" & southeastern Utah....:lol::lol:

Yes. A place that has real towels, for example. Not see-through rags.
And maybe a bar of soap that is not Soviet-style....:D

And I'm thinking I need to bring a coffee machine.

And your own towels, soap...;p

last year I carried my own coffemaker - and grinder...:D
I imagine the Bowen Inn was a step above the Motel 6 in Moab. My opinion of motels in Monticello is that they are designed to remind us we are sinners, running water being the primary difference from camping. I did prefer our accomodations in Blanding over Monty...I wonder if they'll have us back:grinpimp:

This talk all gets dangerously close to Expedition 'wheeling.

And you all know very well that none of us are equipped for that :flipoff2:.

Oh, and I brought an ELECTRIC guitar - I think expedition wheeling would only qualify with an acoustic...

There is a company that can officially certify you as an "expedition wheeler" now. That is crazy....haha...

So how many of you have registered? Whats registration get ya?, the dinner and a shirt? If I remember it was like $130 or more. Pick trail runs? What about reserving a room for the week? I would kinda like to stay with the fellas, know what I mean? If anyone is interested in going on the cheap, BrotherRob is looking to split the cost of camping spot, he mentioned he has a 2 man tent and a double sleeping bag to share, so you dont even have to bring your own camping stuff!! Way to go Rob!! He did also noted he prefers the inside for spooning.

Wow.

No further comment.

Registration gets you participation in the event, dinner, t-shirt, maybe a raffle ticket. Daily BLM trail fees are extra, I believe; can't recall whether Sand Flats recreation area fees (that apply to Hell's Revenge or Fins'n Things) are included. Pritchett Canyon costs $2, and in your case probably a good chuck of your Cruiser on top of that if you go.
Registration is basically to cover the cost of the organizers: cost of the event permit, event insurance, and fees for BLM, and UT State trust land administration.

... Pick trail runs? ...

I wouldn't worry much about that, you will probably be too tired after all of the spooning and what not that you have planned.:lol:

Hey, i didnt say I was going to take him up on his offer, just putting the word out:p It just looks like the trail run spots are limited for the runs, and ME picking trails to run is hard because I have never been on those trails, and dont know what my lowrider is capable of doing. I bought the Moab offroads book and all the trails for the runs seem to be marked difficult. Confusing me. I dont want to be dragged up and down the trail with both of my bumpers broken off and hanging out the hatch!! 'ol Brother Rob was telling me I could do alot of them, but maybe he just wants to to see the polished turd finally ripped off. :bounce:

From this I'm guessing no new mods, tires, lift are planned before the trip?

Most of the books are "calibrated" with a stock SUV in mind, so "difficult" is in that context, no lockers, etc. Have you read these;
Cruise Moab - Trail rating system
Cruise Moab - Trail descriptions
Red Rock 4-Wheelers, Inc. - Moab Utah

With that in mind I would pick from 5 rated or less trails, the exception being Hells Revenge (6 rated), if you stay off of the optional obstacles you should be good on it. IMHO a first trip to Moab needs to include ether Fins or Hells, they are close to the same type trail, roller coaster, the difference being climbs/drop offs on Fins are 30' and Hells 100'+.
