It boils down to the question how much do you like your front bumper?

Regarding the rockcrawling trails, with a stock height truck, I'm not sure I would do Hell's Revenge - there's a few spots where breakover angle and approach angle matters. Departure angle - not so much, since there's the hitch...

Fins'n Things is probably a better deal.

Methinks WipeOutHill might be possible. If Fins doesn't do it , driving WipeOutHill back down should - as Tools put it so succinctly a few years back - '...reset the 'Oh-s***'-meter...' :D

There's a few more difficult trails that a locked stock(-ish) '80 can do, but driver experience becomes a big factor. For example, you can get a locked stock 80 across Golden Spike or Hell's Revenge, but I wouldn't recommend that for a first-timer in Moab.

His isn't totally stock, but close, OME springs that make for ~1" lift and slightly larger tires. There have been several reports of totally stock 80's running Hells without issue.

I would do anything to be able to have a lift and tires for Moab, im even thinking of selling my 1999 Dodge Dakota and taking all the money and putting it right into my cruiser. I've done a few electrical side jobs( i was a journeyman electrician before staying home with my kids) but they were just small jobs. Cant think of any other way to come up with the money for a lift. I would go with all the suggestions that Kevin has given me with the J's and heavies, but then I would be in the situation where I would be asking a bunch of favors of fellow CSC guys to get it right with all the extra stuff thats needs to fabbed up or extended. I dont want to be such a pain in rear. Even though it seems like alot of you guys are eager and willing to help.

Kevin, I would take a look at the links you put up for me, hopefully I will have a fellow CSC to spot me in the tough stuff. Ask Brittan, I'll be the first one to admit I know little about 4 wheelin and I am all ears(Payette).

ChaseTruck- I could care-less about the front bumper, its one of those things that will eventually replaced, and am willing to sacrifice it for the good of wheelin!! Also, even though I have locked stocker, my experience level is pretty noobish. The weak link is my diving skills, even though I thought I did pretty well at Payette.

So if anyone needs some electrical done at their house, let me know and help me fund the lift for Moab!!

I don't doubt it can be done.
I seem to remember a couple of spots on Hells where approach angle matters, and stock height/tires might result in bumper/rock contact. But if the bumper is dispensable...:)

Good thing about running those trails at CruiseMoab is that there are plenty of experienced spotters that are '80-trained', so you can rely on them to help bring your truck through unscathed.

Just a word of caution: Hell's Revenge is not that difficult (not counting the optional obstacles), but the regular trail has a few spots with serious potential for disaster in case of a mistake or inattention. Fins - not so much.

I have done hells in a stock rental jeep cherokee (with 4 bikes on the roof no less), so NO it's not hard. Now I had more fun and less stress doing it in my 80 :meh:

I agree that Hells is more challenging, when you drive up to some on the "hills" it's like "your kidding right, we aren't driving there?":D If you or your passengers don't like heights, that maybe the last time that they ride with you! But that's true of the majority of the trails in the area.

Wow, I'd love to make this trip, but unless I win the lottery soon, I'm oing to have to wait until next time around. Great pics by the way Kevin. Looks like a really fun trip.
