For those of you that are interested, the Cruise Moab 2015 registration is open. It did look like there were plenty of slots open for most of the runs. Not having any experience with this event, I have selected 4s and 5 rated trails. Here are my picks:

Trail Selections

Thursday 1st: Rating: 4 Dome Plateau - 17 Spots Left
Friday 1st: Rating: 5 Porcupine Rim - 4 Spots Left
Saturday 1st: Rating: 5 Wipe Out Hill - 18 Spots Left

I will probably be dragging my camper up there on Wednesday. Haven't booked an RV site yet but probably will stay away from the main event campground.

Let me know if anybody else is planning on going.

Larry

Thinking this may be something I want to do............. thinking....................................................

Danise and I have discussed it. We just haven't made a decision yet.

Mbarela, DO IT! CM is a great time and you have to do it at least 3 or 4 times. that way you get to do all the trails you want and level up each year. Larry, you've done at least moderate to hard trails already with T at Gordy's. what you picked there is good for orientation and you can get out to a couple harder ones if you are back early on 1 or 2 days to try them out. your rear over hang is the limiting factor in Moab for a 100. I have wheeled with one on Golden Spike before.

I've done 4s and 5s in my stock 100 and only lost a little paint on the plastic bumpers. You'll be perfectly fine (and maybe even bored) with your truck. But I highly recommend Elephant Hill, even though it's not rated too high. It's a lot of fun and very scenic.

Doing easy/scenic stuff:

Thu: Arches NP Family Run
Fri: Dome Plateau
Sat: Elephant Hill

I have an electric+water site (171) reserved 4/29 - 5/8 at Slickrock and am borrowing a friend's pop-up. We're going to stick around Moab for the week after CM and do some more sightseeing at Arches, Canyonlands and other places we can find.

The popup I'm borrowing doesn't have/need full hookup, just water and electric, so I stuck with one of those sites along the back of the CG that are for that sort of thing and a little cheaper than the full hookup.

I'll believe it when I see photographic evidence. Just cause you signed up doesn't mean you are going. There is plenty of time for Danise to reign you in or for the kids to get sick.

Damn you for pointing out the obvious Onur. Keep in mind I have made reservations and paid the various costs and deposits required. I'm too cheap to lose money on this deal.

Marc's going with or without the family! Have fun!

Is this your first time to Cruise Moab? You'll have a blast!

If you're asking me, I've been once, in 2010. Ran E-Hill, Fins and Chicken Corners.

they aren't offering Rusty Nail yet are they? I need to run that one still.

Whoa! what happened to all the trails? I just went to look and most everything I like to run is not even offered! Behind the Rocks is good. no Pritchett Canyon? nothing at area BFG? Pickle is a new one I should try...

There is a mention of Area BFE at the bottom of the FAQ page. It's not an official part of the event this year but still available.

I guess I'll be joining Larry and Marc at CM... Same camp ground and some of the same trails...... Now time to get ready!

I'm taking the week after CM off and planning to stick around southern Utah. One idea I had was to leave Moab a couple days after CM ends (May 4th or 5th) and head down toward Capitol Reef, Bryce and Zion. I'm curious who has been to any those places and if you would recommend going to any or all of them. I'll be towing a pop-up and need to figure out if I want to camp in Capitol Reef or Bryce, or both. One thought was to go directly to Bryce from Moab and then base-camp out of there with day trips to Zion and Capitol Reef separately, before we head home around the 8/9th of May.

We have been to all three. We pulled our camper on a summer vacation and loved it. After awhile, we found ourselves so overwhelmed by the landscape around every turn, that we became numb to it. We liked camping at Kodachrome near Bryce. Its a few miles out from the main park but pretty cool little campground. Not sure about the distance to day trip to those places. We didn't find Capital Reef as cool as Zion or Bryce. I would suggest a few days in Zion for sure. Not too sure about wheeling since we didn't have my hundy at the time.
