Ok its 3:15 I better call it good. Hot a ton of stuff done in the last 3 days. Probably more than I have done in 3 years. I had some great help from the best people in earth and we made it happen. To anyone on the Swell, see you tomorrow!!!

Yesterday high winds were predicted for Moab Tues and Wed which would have meant bad conditions at Lone Warrior but now report says only 10-20 mph which is better but not good. Better bring a lid for your beer mug ; )

Anybody get to read my article about CM2012 in Toyota Trails yet? It's in the online member's only section.

What's with this online only bit anyways? The hardcopy version is some pretty thin reading and only made thinner by this online only business.

In late 2008, the projected 2009 TLCA budget showed that TLCA was going to run out of money before the year was up if the trajectory that had been followed over the previous several years was followed. A number of changes were implemented to ensure fiscal solvency, and one of them was to reduce the number of pages in Toyota Trails from 64 to 56, and to go to the stapled binding. TT was actually 56 (or less) pages for many years before it went to 64 pages.

When that decision was made, it was made concurrent with enabling the content which might have been printed to become available to members only on the web site. I personally prefer dead trees, but at least members still get the same amount of exclusive content they would have otherwise. One (small) advantage is that these online stories actually take up more space than they would in the magazine, with more and larger pictures than fit the magazine.

From a business standpoint, increasing paid membership income (either more members or higher dues) is the most direct path to getting those 8 pages back. If you'd like to weigh in on the subject directly with leadership, you can contact them directly, or indirectly through your chapter delegate or individual rep.
