Oh Glen, I wish I could come that early. Been daydreaming about Moab since the day I left last year.
I will be arriving either Sat late late, or Sunday.
I am so hoping to be able to do a trail Sunday.
Monday is a definitely.
Than I am on the Koko for three days.

It will be my third year as well.

How do you change your trail plans? I had to register a second time as I screwed up the paypal thing the first go, and I did have Poison Spider etc on that list, but they were unavailable when I finally was able to re-register and get confirmation.
I was also planning on staying at the Slickrock campground, being a Moab virgin I thought it would be nice to stay close to the main activities. Yes I've heard about the cotton wood problems.
But I can't reserve a site, the website has everything listed as "sold out", the office is closed for the winter, and so far have not answered any emails.

Jeff/Jason- I dug out my 2 Kokopelli maps which include Moab etc... I will bring them to the next meeting if you like... They are the ones with the 'waxy' finish that are supposed to be water resistant. The drive from Moab to the Koko trail head is awesome with the Colorado R. on one side and a cliff on the other..

Don't panic- Moab "shuts down" during the winter - starts to wake up in March when things start to open. There a lot of trail changes prior to any run- even worst case if you don't get exactly what you want -the trails are all pretty good.

Anyone staying at Slickrock Campground? If so, what sites? I'd be coming in on Thursday after the overnight run.

I don't think I'm going to make it for this one. Too many uncertainties at work right now.

How much fuel do you think ? An extra 10 gallons or so ? Im only runnin a little 22re, I think last year i used about 3/4 tank in the 3 days i ran with you guys, and I had to do some highway time jockeying my tow rig around.

Regarding fuel requirements - from Green River doing everthing in the Maze it would be 300-320 miles to Hite Marina,. This includes 70 miles of pavement, 90 miles of relativly high speed dirt (15 -25mph) and 160 miles of rougher trail (4 - 10 mph.). I doubt we will have time to do it all.

Hite Marina has a 24-hr credit card fuel pump. According to:

Glen Canyon National Recreation Area - Lake Powell Marinas (U.S. National Park Service)

"Land based facilities include the Hite Ranger Station with emergency services, visitor information, public restrooms, and a fish cleaning station. A convenience store is open daily except during the winter season with gasoline & diesel fuel available year round."

Yeah, it's just off the Kokopelli Trail. A few Kms from where we re-entered the Kokopelli Trail at Dewey Historic Bridge. Top of the World forks off from the trail. We weren't there when it was windy, but it supposedly howls like a fighter jet taking off.
