All this Moab talk, wanted to go there for years always seem to have something get in the way. Hell my parents have been there 2 times in the last 3 years and they do not even 4x4 "have you heard of this place called Moab? We pulled our RV in last night and there are a lot of 4x4's here" :bang:

At least I got a Moab T shirt out of it lol.

Had planed to make it to CM2013 but that plan has already gone the way of the....well most my plans HA!

I plan in advance to go a trip, then work hard to make the other stuff fit it. I used to make trip plans if they happen to fit the other stuff in my life - but that never worked very often.:bang:

I am. I finally figured out my problem with trying to reserve a site...have to pick a unit number!

I'm in the "no hook up" area, site #49. Not sure if I'm bringing the trailer yet.

See you at Slickrock. :)

packed - leaving 4:30 am tomorrow, solar panels on, most problems solved, 60 liters of water on board, 130 liters of fuel and food yet to get - here on the Island its dismal rain as per usual so a good time to head for the desert - high 80's forecast in Hanksville, UT for Sunday when Greg, Nick meet up to head into the Maze.

10 Day Weather Forecast for <location_name> - weather.com

few teaser shots from last year - when Drew and I did a quick run along the top of the Orange Cliffs. This year we have a Canyonlands permit for 6 days down in there ...

Have a great, safe trip, guys!!!

So who is leaving when? Jason and I briefly chatted about leaving on the 28th.

I will be stopping at the first US Costco (there is one just a few minutes drive from the Sumas crossing) to stock up on grub and booze.

So far I'm solo, so an empty seat or two for any last minute wannabes......

Spot will be on, wifey bought travel insurance awhile back, and I think my Calstar is even still good for a couple months, so old John Cleese 'shant have to shake me too hard should anything bad happen.

I will also need to grab some grey poupon along the way, I'm sure Glenn won't have any room in his truck for some.

I hope your leaving your picnic solar panel at home, cause I heard moab is quite the wheeling adventure!:hillbilly:

I believe Glenn, Greg and I are leaving tomorrow morning... Just finished packing the truck and trailer... now to find the list of the 50 things I forgot to do...

I normally hit the Costco and the Petsmart just after I cross to get the first weeks worth of supplies and cheap gas.

See you guys down there

Jeff, I'm heading out on the 28th in the morning. Staying over in Boise that night (you're welcome to join us at the Uncle's place). Stop at Cabella's in Salt Lake on the way by, and arrive in Moab on Sunday evening.

My plans are not quite going as planned. Clutch went just as I was coming into Ontario, OR. Managed to limp into town but all the shops are closed until Monday. So looks like we are going to get 3 or 4 days to explore this town and not some trail somewhere. If we are still here when you come throw stop and say Hi.

oh no...

Sorry to hear about your troubles Drew. I know you said your clutch is gone, but I wonder if you post what it is doing, hopefully somebody might have a solution that will keeping you on the road until monday?

Clutch was compleatly gone... only thing the let me get it into the shop was the heat expantion. They went to move it today and couldn't get it to move an inch.

Good news is they where able to source a clutch out of Boise,IH and it should be here this morning and if everything go's as planned we should be on the road again around 5pm.

Sorry to hear about the problems Drew.

On the upside, we got two more HAMs in the club. Both Christian and I did the course this weekend. Stone was there too and I am sure he did well. I'll be bending your ear when you get back about radios and antennas. Perhaps something that will allow email - APRS?

Congrats guys!

I was hot to trot on the APRS as well till I was out on the trail and some one had it. Not sure if I was set up wrong or what but I got a tone of ping's all the time when talking on VHF from there APRS set-up. I turned my VHF off after about an hour of it.

I think I am getting the Welcome to Yaesu.com

Its really all that is needed on the trail and the price is nice.

I'm guessing no news is good news from Drew and company. I'm sure they're exploring deep in the wilderness of Utah by now. See you boys soon!
