Not 100% yet... but it isn't looking good

I am hoping you can make it - missing two Cruise Moab adventures is just too hard on a guy -- and a bj70_ guy at that.

Yes. Lance created so much (ahem) moisture in his truck that night the doors were frozen shut the next morning...

Actually, it was the propane tent heater I had to spark up, to make up for the loss of body heat in the middle of the night. It melted all the frost, and when it got light out, we got out of our trucks to get mobile. While we were doing that, the moisture in the truck re-froze and my doors got a bit stuck from the inside.

Rami and I had a blast running with you guys last year, I am hoping for the same this year ! room permitting, we have our annual club meeting coming up this month and im sure we will hammer down some logistics, but If i can swing it I would love to check out the Maze district with you before meeting up with the AZ guys !

Hi Nick -- The Maze trip is in its early stages of planning and according to what I have read we would need 4 nights (3 days) in there to do it justice. Being a gasser you will need lots of fuel. Most of us are diesels so we go a long way on a tank. The last fuel stop would be Green River, so we could tentatively meet in Green River the Tuesday before the Saturday we meet the Copper State crew prior to CM2012. If you can swing the time that would be great. Must a very loooong haul from NY! :steer:It 1,250 miles for us.
Glenn

How much fuel do you think ? An extra 10 gallons or so ? Im only runnin a little 22re, I think last year i used about 3/4 tank in the 3 days i ran with you guys, and I had to do some highway time jockeying my tow rig around.

And as for the drive, oh yea, 2k miles each way. Last year i had to leave right after the kokopelli (the day the event started) for a family emergency !!

Thur =Golden Spike (Long day Rated a 7)
Friday= Gold Bar Rim (Rated 5)
Saturday= Seven Mile Rim Rated 4)
Golden Spike for sure, but the other days may skip out with the CSC gang. White Rim not a Cruise Moab run is fantastic and for the last two years the CSC has run it on Saturday.
All trails may not be available and depending what happened over the winter the ratings could change. I would avoid Golden Spike for first timers Kane Creek, Poison Spider Mesa are nice and scenic - hell they are all great !!.

I'm signed up. On for the Kokopelli 3 day run. Gold Bar Rim on Friday, and Kane Creek Canyon on Saturday. Ohboyohboyohboyohboy!!!!

FYI

I will be doing CM2012, but I will not be staying at Slickrock because I have a severe allery to the Cottonwood trees there. I am looking at a few other smaller and less expensive (hopefully less congested ) campgrounds.

I'm registered,
Thursday 1st: Rating: 7 Golden Spike - 7 Spots Left
Friday 1st: Rating: 5 Porcupine Rim - 14 Spots Left
Saturday 1st: Rating: 6 Hells Revenge - 12 Spots Left

Winston might be staying home this year or visiting a doggy hotel in Moab for a few days when we go play in the Maze, and like Glenn Spike is the only run I'm committed to.

Kokepelli is the first. I was a little confused, but it looks like that run starts on the Tuesday and is a 2 nighter.
So based on that I signed up for Posion Spider Mesa on the Thursday.
Friday is Porcupine Rim
Saturday is Kane Creek.

I've got two weeks off, and tentatively planning to leave on the 28th, saunter on down. And see where the winds take me on the 6th. I'd really like to check out the Grand Canyon since I'll be relatively close (about 6-8 hours drive aparently).

I believe the overnighter takes up your Thursday plan, or at least it did 2 yrs ago. You might want to confirm.

The view from Porcupine rim is nice, but if I were you, I'd pick a slick rock trail for Friday or Saturday. I didn't go on the Kane Creek run, but I think that all of your choices are choppy/rocky trails with occassional bedrock. I'd get on a run of Spike, Poison Spider, Hells, etc; something that puts you out on the sandstone all day.

As Martin said, your Thursday is the third day of the Kokopelli run. I'd change your Friday to one of the three he mentioned. I did Poison Spider and Hell's revenge last year, and they were both EXCELLENT slick rock action. If I had to pick one to do again, it would be hard. Hell's is more slick rock, kinda more classic I thought, but I think there was more action on Poison Spider.

It'll be cool doing the Kokopelli with you. You bringing a kid or two? I'll have my 4yr old daughter along.
