For those of you who might be interested these are the dates for CM09. Registration normally opens early in the New Year and the event normally fills up quickly.

I am planning on heading out on April 22nd and meeting up with the Copper State Cruisers in south east Utah on the 25th. We have had great pre-Moab wheeling the last few years. I will be reluctantly returning home on or around May 5th

It would be great to see some of you attend, I am sure you would enjoy it as much as I do.

I'm registered

What trails did you sign up for?

I'm still trying to pick,
3 New trials
Metal Masher, Steel Bender and Wipe Out Hill

or some combination of the above with some of the following

Hells Revenge, Kane Creek Canyon, Gold Bar Rim, Poison Spider Mesa are all in my list of trails I would do over in a second.

I think I'm finally done with the bj70

Now out of the blue I can't get out of low range, $1700 to fix

Think I will be taking the FJ

I was going to ask if you had picked a truck yet. Sorry to hear about the BJ70

What nights are you staying at slickrock campground?

I have sent in my reservation for April 29 to May 3ed. The campground is closed for the winter so it might take a week or two to get a reply from them. Remember to let them know you are with Cruse Moab to get a 10% discount

I finaly desided on Steel Bender, Hells Revenge and Wipe Out Hill for my first picks.

I guess we could have picked these together, I got the reservation on the 16th just to be sure.

Didn't record my choices, and can't see a way to review them. I was at Big White and didn't have a stable Internet connection, so I made some guesses

That seems pricey - even if the T-case has to be rebuilt. Other option is a used one from Japan4x4 or the likes. Do you know what's broke?
I have an email in to him now to check

Thanks

What is the $1700 for? If its the T-Case it will have been dismantled, which can be done under the truck. Maybe its the 4X4 shifter on the front transfer shaft is jammed. Spare parts should not be hard to find, since its the same split case as in the 60's You need to find what is busted.

Here is the Copper State cruisers aggenda, If you can meet up with us it would be great.

Copied from here

Saturday; drive to/meet up in Mexican Hat. If we get checked in early enough, the possibilities include Valley of the Gods, Moki Dugway, San Juan River, etc.

Sunday is open, still looking. Attempting to get in contact with the owners of the Hat Rock Inn, they wheel and have this in their web site “We also have some great jeep & 4-wheeler trails, all trails are accessible from anywhere in town!” So may have some suggestions for cool new places to see.

Monday, Hotel Rock? That was a great run and there is a route that comes out in Monticello.

Tuesday, Lockhart.

Wednesday, tech registration, then something off of 128? This looks good, Pole Canyon Rim, Dolores River?

I have just finished setting up a mobile HF station in my truck and am hoping to be able to make some contacts along my travels and keep in touch. I will be monitoring 20 meters during the day around 14.250 MHz and would like to setup a sked for 1700 and 2100 UTC. I will also be attempting to check in to the BC public service net and BC/Yukon NTS Traffic net on 80 meters daily. Band conditions permitting I should be available for contact after the nets.

I should also be available via IRLP, when I’m in Utah the Node 3270 which is located in Castle Dale is linked full time to the Sinbad Desert Amateur Radio Club's linked repeater system. I should be in range of the Abajo Peak or Bald Mesa linked repeaters for the majority of my time there and will be monitoring them.

I will also be using APRS VA7DRW-12 and Airmail va7drw@winlink.org

The 70 is back, but I'm taking the FJ anyway.

Hope to be in Utah Monday

Might get the Expedition Bumper if it can be arranged
