Were you speaking english? :D
I'll try to tune you in, first I need to swap my rig into the FJ (62).
GG

No, I was speeking ham:p. VE7RSC(irlp 1463) 443.775+ tone:110 in/out is currently located about 3 km away from you on 144 street. Surrey Amateur Radio Club members will be using this repeater to keep in touch with me and it is open for everyone to use.

Cool Drew! Did you mount the High Sierra on the FJ? Any pics of the install?

Yes and No, I have a mount that will accomidate the High Sierra but will be running a 80m Hustler or 20m Hamstick. I will also have the High Sierra packed if I need to make contact on another band or if I lose one of the other antennas.

Have you figured out how to get an HF antenna on your 857 yet?

Here's a sneek peek of the install

Drew's been buying MORE radios! I figured you'd just mounted the 857, but no.
Looks great there, like the faceplates mounted overhead. Look forward to seeing the rest of the install.

Have yet to use my 857 on HF - pathetic, I know. Haven't really had the time to pursue it much up till now.
If nothing else I should have a crack at it in the 74 with a Hamstick or Hustler like you're using there.
I should at least try a hamstick dipole at home and see if I can hear you on your trip, but if nothing else I'll monitor your club irlp repeater.

I am now running the stock tires and rims from the FJ (32"s) on the 70, but have shuffled the front around to accommodate 35"s when I have funds to buy some pitbull rockers for both trucks for the hardcore stuff. One set to be shared of course...

37"s bring me back to stock gearing, but I don't want stock gearing, nor do I ever see putting 37"s on the bj70

Top speed now down to 95Kms

Drew, where did you get that roof mounting system for your radios? Can you post up a few more pics?

It is one of many custom mounts I had to create for this install. Below is another photo I took from one of my test fits. I plan on doing a full write up once I get some time…

I got a great deal on the Kenwood TS-480SAT and wonted to keep 857 for home since it had both VHF/UHF and HF. I'm still playing around with HF antennas in the attic, I’m looking for a configuration I can use more than 25 watts and not set off my burglar alarm but for now my dipoles are working good enough to let me listen and make contacts.

The bezel qualifies it.

It started as a FJ 40 and is now an FJ blazer ;). It's all about having the right parts on the truck.

The rules have not changed but there is room for a small number of non-Toyota's with in the rules. Last year one of my trail leaders was driving a Jeep:eek:.
