I have rarely used a cruise control in a vehicle so I never paid attention to this black arm protruding out of the left side of my steering column (FJ60). Just recently when I was cruising down highway 50 I remembered that black arm that got in my way when trying to replace the choke light. Turned it on, nothing. Played around awhile and couldn't figure it out. Stopped at a Flying J, checked the owners manual, and holy cr@p there isn't a cruise control on the FJ60!

Question...Is there a cruise control for the 62? I want to figure this thing out, driving 500 mile trips being pedal conscious (ga$ prices) is a drag! If this thing is an evil joke I am hunting the guy down who put that in.

You may have an aftermarket CC installed by a previous owner. These things have been available from auto parts strores, JC Whitney, etc. for years. Not a bad upgrade if it works.

I think cruise was a dealer option on a FJ60. Mine has cruise. Well it used to before the SBC went in. I still have most/all? of the parts. The controler is still on my steering column. Pm me if you want some parts.

I've got one on my FJ62. It surges a little too much for my tastes, so I don't use it much.

I had it on my 1986 FJ60. The previous owner said it never did work right. I think it was a dealer-installed unit. The lever on the steering column looks very professional, but the install under the vehicle was cobbled together in a sorry way. I wish I had a good cruise control. Has anyone had success installing one?

I purchased one for my FJ62 that was a dealer installed option a few months back. There are tons of aftermarket out there, but some suck from what i remember, I havent installed mine, but I know its not one of the JC whitney cheapies.

manual

Found the installation manual, if anyone is interested give me an email and ... found my problem. The cool power and ground clips on my fuses that run to the previous owners CB installation match the Dana CC setup. I guess that's a good trade if you're not driving long distances. I haven't looked in the dash yet for CC specific stuff, but I pray that control switch is in there somewhere...

I am curious what brands you others have. The Dana system is supposed to be +_1.5mph, but I will believe that when I see it. That is some pretty damn good servo control.
