Cross member, stop some frame flex??

What do people think of this cross member, it should stop alot of frame flex?
I ran 3/8" thick plates down both sides of the frame underneath(sp?).
Then I drilled 4 9/16" holes on each side, to use massive 9/16" bolts.
All of the square tubing is 3/16" thick.
To bad I don`t have the Atlas anymore.
Flame away.

You can remove a lot more frame flex by welding the inner frame C to the outer frame C

Should I also box in the whole front of the frame, and weld the front cross member that is under the bib?

If you want to remove frame flex, yep..

Hey Mace, have you done this?

Would you weld the entire seem, or stitchwork, like 4" by 4"?

Does any one else have experience, good or bad with this idea?

When I replaced my frame, I had a welder friend stitch 4" where every rivet was on the replacement. It turned out alright. we also boxed the frame to the rear spring mounts, and I think that helped as well.

I just finished welding mine all the way. The welds I had done before caused cracks at the ends of the welds. Needs to be fully welded.

I'll have to have a look at mine. It was done years ago, and has seen only a few miles, but hard miles.
