Had some guy crash in the back of me doing 45 to 50 Mph. I was stopped.

There was some damage to the tailgate due to the spare being pushed forward. No frame or other major damage. This could have been the end of the cruiser if not for the bumpers.

So anyone building bumpers keep the spare away from the gate about 4-5 inches and brace the swing with a stop.

4x4 customs in Georgia did the build for me. Worth the investment.

Unfortunately the impact was sent to the back of my neck. I had my bell rung for sure.

It looks like the back of your frame has been tweaked up a few inches. Still, that's amazing considering the impact, and the size of the vehicle that hit you!

That ain't no little lightweight sedan!

Curious, is your rear drivers door slightly open or does it have that edge molding, because it looks like that is slightly ajar. Or was is something caused by the accident, (frame damage)? Other than that, everything else looks relatively nice for a hit like that.

That will teach him to try and sneak up on a cruiser :)

Yeah- good info- im opting to go high up with mine since its enough of a DD to take this into consideration.

Looking at the gaps in your hatch and tailgate----they dont look too out of whack. ID much rather have a ding inward than any sort of impact that resulted in twisting of the frame or body panels. Luckily for your cruiser--it was fairly straight on. Maybe not so much for your noggin.

glad to hear that you didn't get hurt anyworse. sounds like something a massage will fix. Too bad the other guy wont be so lucky.

That's awesome how that FROD is smashed and you came out almost unscathed! Sucks that had to happen to you but at least you were prepared.

Bummer about the damage, but the bumper preformed about how I would expect in a hard hit. The tire is mounted pretty high over the bumper, has a lot of leverage on it, if the mount were more solid it would probably bend the frame, it's only ~1/8". The gate damage sucks, but they bolt on, so relatively easy fix, if the frame/body structure were bent your talking total for sure and not easily DIY fixable.
