crap adjustable links are tools (1 Viewer)

Purchased some $100 upper control arms as a temp fix for my vibration problems.
I was waiting for funds for the Dobinsons after the metal tech ones fell through..

Anyway, I had a tough time getting the dobinsons ones in (I had to lengthen them more for a better pinion angle)

so I realized I could use the cheap turnbuckle style to push the axle enough to fit the new non turnbuckle dobinsons control arms.

For those that are wondering, the non turnbuckle adjustable arms cannot be adjusted while installed, while the turnbuckle style can. Just thought I’d post this for anyone that was having trouble installing adjustable links, $100 for a tool is pretty inexpensive, especially if you have multiple 80’s, although I think this would work on 4Runners with linked rear ends as well.

When the rear suspension is lifted, the axle will rotate backwards thus forcing the differential pinion to point upwards. The result is that the pinion angle of the rear differential and the flange on the transfer case isn't parallel.

100% I will say though with this method, and since I already had the eBay control arms, there is no guessing/readjusting the length.
