Craigslist - now here is a sales pitch for a FJ55

I came so close to going up there (from Tucson) to buy that (we agreed on $1,000). We were emailing to coordinate a time to meet and I couldn't make it right away and the last email I got from him read " Y not tonight mother f@*ka? " only without the @ and *. So I figured this guy wasn't playing with a full deck, this only confirms it. I'm glad I passed.

Sounds like you made a great decision. Did you ever buy a 55? There is another one on Craigslist in AZ as well.

I have a 1972 Toyota Land Crusier. It is rough but runs very strong 4X4 FJ55. Will drive anywhere. Great for outback and Mexico beaches. A lot of fun. You can drive it miles on the beach in Mexico. If you get stuck, which can happen, you let air out of the tires down to about 15 lbs. so you cvan still drive it. Drop it into 4 and out you go. Go to the top of Sandy Hill in Penasco. Be careful. Don't take the kids. Turning around at the top is the tricky part. I once had it covered with whale bones. I looked so damn good I nearly s***. When I got back to thje border of course the American border patrol took them away from me. I got buried in mud. I thought she was gone. I went to get a tow truck at Pelican Point. When we got back my sister met us with the truck. She got it out It was up to its ass in salt mud.
I got it stuck in the tide. A guy with a whinch pulled my floating Toy out. When I fainally got oit started I came bac to Phoenix. The stero was trashed from salt. I went to Jimmy's Radio to get it replaced. There I met a hot Mexican woman. That definitly changed my life.
Make me an offer in trade. I am to old to do that crap anymore. Something off the wall of equal value. About $1500. Some people think it is worth nothing. They are bored with their life and should just lay down.

this is in or around PHX

Oh its no joke. Buyer beware, I would make sure to bring a buddy and let people know where you are going before going to check this rig out. I really think the guy has a screw loose (see my above post) but you might just get to check out his human ear collection. I did end up buying another fj55 (that makes three) and I still plan to post pics but I am always at work when I get on this site.

Here is another great sales pitch (http://sandiego.craigslist.org/car/173362769.html). I agree these are great rigs, but haven't seen too many go in the 37k range. Hmmm, maybe my 55's are worth more than I think they are??? I love his enthusiasm though...

Here is a copy of the write-up:

a 1978 toyota landcruiser fj 55! everything works! this vehicle runs great! no sand dune or off road park is too big for this fj! the fj 55 is a one of a kind landcruiser not many were made in the usa. This is the original safari vehicle. 4.11 differential, 4 speed manual tranny. 4.2 liter in line six cylinder motor! If your looking for a landcruiser that is a proven off road performer look no further! It is all original! i've seen these fj 55's selling for over 37,000! everything mechanicly is sound. i am a mechanic! and this thing runs great! It does have some rust but not much! So 6000 is a steal of a deal! If you paint it for a grand you can easily sell for 30,000 dollars type in 1978 toyota landcruiser on google and see for yourself! This rig is a dreamers 4 wheel drive! im sad to have to let it go but i need to pay bills! This is the ultimate 4 wheel drive!

I think that if I really had a lot of bills to pay then I'd find $1000 somewhere to paint it and sell it for $30k rather than the $6k he is asking. Better than a savings account...
