On a cowl replacement what are we talking about? Can it be done leaving the windshield in? How long? Thanks, MIke

I'd be curious for an answer.

Is the cowl the part that runs right up to the glass/rubber or the piece directly to the front of it that has the venting? On the former I have some light bubbling and some rust show through.

Cowl goes from back of hood and has the vents to the rubber on windshield. MIke

IIRC you gotta pull the fenders as well. I think the bolts are under fenders. I could be wrong.. Been a while since mine was apart.

I beleave the cowl is a welded in peice on the fj60 and fj62.
Pretty sure that i way i never took one off on the ones i have parted out. there where some good ones i cruisers i have parted out and i know i would have taken them off if it was easy.
Let me know if i wrong.

I would think you would have to remove all the body filler .
Then find the spot welds and drill them out or grind the old cowl off.
Then you would have to weld in the new cowl peice.
I would think you would remove the windsheild.

This is just a guess as i have not removed one.
but have seen welded in parts on other cars removed when i worked at the body shop like roofs and that is how you removed those.

Good luck
Brian

I figured it was alot of work. I also figured the windshield would need to come out. Wondering how many hours? MIke
