Picked up 10 quarts for $31 at my local Costco! This is my first time using this oil, but it has positive reviews on this forum.

Doing my first oil change in a couple weeks and trying to decide if I should run 0w20 or 5w30. Yes I've read the entire thread on the topic lol

Kirkland is that Costco mystery brand... so Who's oil is in that container?

LOL .. funny

But my point is --> Warren Distribution who packages the oil can put one manufacture oil in the package one month and another manufactures oil in the package another month.
January it maybe Pennzoil and February Super Tech. There are not really any rules...

There is no Google answer for what oil is in that package month to month.

And really, any modern oil that meets the spec is fine as long as you don’t extend the drain intervals too much. At the end of the day our engines are pretty easy on oil.

OK... Question for you ... Do you use it?

No. I don't shop at either of those stores.

I usually buy Pennzoil Platinum 5w-30 when an auto parts chain offers rebates, bringing it down under $20 per 5-qt jug.

Maybe it's good oil ... I really would not know.

That's kindof my point.

Compared to what was available a few decades ago, modern oils are incredible. And, the way our engines are designed, they aren't particularly hard on the oil.. meaning they don't tend to shear it down in viscosity, or contaminate it through water/coolant/fuel issues. Even if it's off-brand, as long as we trust that it meets the specs listed on the bottle, our engines will do just fine. I'd say to be sure we shouldn't really push the oil change interval length, and if someone really wanted to push that interval they should look into a true premium oil, but the odds of any of us having lubrication related problems with what is coming out of these bottles is extremely small.

I have been using the 5w-30 Costco synth oil for a few oil changes now @ 5k intervals.
Nothing to report, it’s still pretty clean coming out as expected,
The truck is quiter at idle, no mpg changes.
I have not done an analysis on it as there is 0% to worry about in the drain pan (I do check as a Matter of course, since I have a rover v8 as well and umm need to keep an eye on that (it gets oil at 3k ish)
