Rich,

I've been out with older ones from the 70's and maybe 60's. What ever the old air cooled ones were
What kind of power do the newer ones have. Could they tow a 40?

These newer ones are a completely different animal. i just had it out on the highway for over an hour. it cruised along at 65 no problem . And its like a Cadillac compared to any other pinz or military truck ive ever been in ride and comfort wise. the 6 wheel disc brakes are awesome . and the power steering is tight. speed aside it goes down the highway better than my 80. super stable. REAL heat and defrost its cold here now 30's.
as far as towing ill have to look it up. but i know it will carry 3300lbs in bed so i imagine it can tow a fair amount. i wanna say i think i read before 11000 pounds as it develops max power at 2mph i think. ill have to check.

Yes Rich, please, by all means, get some 100 and 200 series rear bumpers out before the ones on the Dobinson site make it to the streets.
Their 200 series may go down as one of the ugliest I've seen. The 100 series isn't far behind. Maybe it's just the pics that aren't doing them justice.
You should lend them your camera. Your camera seems to make bumpers look great.

+1 for a 200 front bumper! Agree there are no good looking options. Slee will soon have a rear that I'm sure will rock.

There's a link to a clip of the 4th gen subaru outback winchmount i just designed . and heres some pics. i know this is not cruiser related, some dont drive their cruisers daily and have daily drivers. if a Subaru outback is your DD than this might interest you. our if you just like looking at metal work lol...View attachment 1363226 View attachment 1363227 View attachment 1363229 View attachment 1363231 View attachment 1363238

Thanks for the kind words. That Subaru mount is for the 4th. I did make about 4 for the 5th gen. The bolt patterns are different. This new design on the 4th is superior to the last i did. I need to carry over the modifications to the fifth gen before its ready to re-release. Does yours have the air flow dampers in front of the radiator? Those would have to come out. And we would have to fool the computer. Pretty easy mod with no cels after.
Winch mounts for both gens are $525.00 to start and there are light mount/brushbar options and recovery point as well as tie down point options. the winch i used was the superwinch terra45 synthetic. 4500lb single line pull. Come up makes a nice 6000 pound unit but costs more than double the terra45. But 6k is nice if your pulling a small trailer as well. 8k is overkill for these cars and i dont recommend as the unibody mounts would need to be reinforced to support the possible pulling force that could be applied if you used a snatchblock and were buried. Though i did get an 8k warn to fit just to see.
60 series fronts will more than likely be first to start as bumpers go. At the moment im pretty busy with full vehicle builds which i enjoy the most and 80 series front bumpers. The Costa fabrications pinzgauer build is a real exciting project along with that unimog i posted earlier that has a list that keeps growing , im now shaving the door handles and suiciding the doors on the mog. I might have another mog being shipped to me from a production company in Arizona to build after the Button Built mog . But parts like these winchmounts are perfect little filler work i can knock out quickly and ship out. I can easily build 4 in a day unlike full front bumpers. Im also on the hunt for the next import... i may sound busy but im still always up for custom requests, there just might br a longer lead time.. so feel free to pm.

Cheers
Rich

I dont know about the AirFlow Dampers......Still getting to know what I bought... Ha !!!
I can tell you this is my first Outback, (not first suby) basic model that we got with the intention of lifting it and taking off the OEM roof rack and trying to build something in aluminum that fits the JB Horizon Vision RTT.
Sounds like you are well versed on these vehicles......

Im subbed to this thread and keep an eye open when mods on the 5th gen happen.....Interested on this.
Thanks for the info on the winch......
Any idea if you will be doing any of the skid plates for the OB on the steel flava ?

That's great to hear....
I gotta say I really dig those recovery points on them front bumpers !!!!

2017 plans?

J

Just keep building.. asside from bumper orders and local work i have some other vehicle builds slated not including the mogs or the pinz project im currently working on. Ive also been commissioned to build table bases for a local custom woodworker that makes beautiful tables from reclaimed wood. He wants some clean simple minimalist steel leg designs to give as other options for his customers. But up first is a $16k dollar 11ft special order dining table. Im pretty excited about being considered for this project. And ive always had in interest in building furniture... tables specifically. So this will give me a chance to explore things. I also have some firearms related things in the works... so ive got an interesting year ahead it seams, we'll see....
