Just obtained an estimate for re-gearing from J.T. Parts&Accessories. They recommend replacing the bearings and upgrading to solid preload spacers. Cost for the parts, $1,000. Just looking for input on whether replacing the bearings and the upgrade to solid preload spacers is the way to go. And of course any input on the price is welcome, along with alternative quality suppliers.
Thanks,
Cook

IMHO, would have it done locally and there is only one who I would recommend. He only works in the cooler part of the year, so plan accordingly.

Toyota Gear Installs

Cook - take Kevins advice; go to Zuk. He IS quality. None better IMO.

x3 on Zuk

He did my rear 3rd and lathed the spacer rather than using a crush sleeve. He is awesome and super detailed.

I sourced a master kit from SOR and wheel bearings as well. The SOR stuff was good and all bearings Japanese. Price was not ridiculous.

I didn't buy new gears though, so can't comment on price.

I went to Zuk and ordered my parts from GotMud since he is local

Zuk deals with Just Differentials. He knew Carl when he was setting up my front ARB. Zuk is very detailed!!!

Brit had already directed me toward Zuk for the install, I'm wondering about the price for the parts.

I think Zuk will handle all of that for you, parts and labor. This way he knows what to order and what he needs. In the end it will most likely be simpler and not cost much more to have him handle everything.

x10 Zuk is the man!!! :D

Highly recommend Zuk also..

Now that that is settled, is it time for Trolls yet?

Troll

I didn't use Zuk. He's not local. :flipoff2:

Cook, definitely trust me on this one dude, go with Zuk!

I think you should do like Kevin. Buy gears, put them on a shelf and leave them there for 4 years.

I'm actually 'trolling' for someone who has gears sitting around hoping they will realize it's time to pass them on!

Phil's probably got 'em for $659.52..

Zuk rocks!

He also does a full write-up on every customer...
