Thanks to the PO, I know there is a wrong way to route it

Yes, that's PTO driveshaft. Fortunately every PTO set-up comes with the Toyota Factory shaft alignment tool.:D

So my question is, what's the best route for the parking brake cable and speedo cable on a stock '73 3-speed with the PTO box. I've searched and found some posts showing the non PTO route, but I don't think I can take the carnage a second time and want to get it right. Is it back up and over the linkage from the backside?

By the way, somebody told me the e-brake cable is 3/16 inch and takes about 3200 lbs of pull to break. I broke mine in 2 places, stalled the motor in 1st gear.
Thanks all.

I route them above the engine mount on the driver side and secure them with rubber-coated positioning clamps.
