It was a very good fit for my 55 but I'm different. My driveline might be a little longer than stock. So it is a perfect replacement for the 55?
I am needing a longer cable b/c of H55 swap. From what I understand that is about 4" longer than 4-spd and case.It was a very good fit for my 55 but I'm different. My driveline might be a little longer than stock.
Do you know what your parking brake cable p/n is?I just replaced my PB cable today. There is a single metal clip (26) that is bent into place in the groove to hold the cable in place into the backing plate for the 4 sp transfer case. A crappy design but adequate, I guess.
Same question for you sir, except it looks like you might have gotten your goods from Kurt.I'm sure you've realized by now that the 40 and 55 parking brakes are mirror-image of each other, so the backwards wavey washer would be different from the frontwards wavy washer. Sorta like a reverse threaded nut.
I don't remember that washer being wavey at all.
The parking brake cable that Toyota (and everybody else) sells now (for a 40) is a bit longer than the original '74 55 cable. I need the extra length for my doubler and it fit just fine.

So not like this at all, eh?The tiny clip that holds the PB cable in the PB backing plate is very small, not like the typical horseshoe clip.
@ToyotaMatt - just cut-off at the top of this picture is where the mechanism comes through the firewall.
This is probably the best post of this thread...
Shoes came from Kurt, cable came from ebay or amazon or something similar. just google parking brake cable FJ40, sometimes they list the length.Same question for you sir, except it looks like you might have gotten your goods from Kurt.

I am finding Toyota p/n 46410-60092 as a potential match for a 40 series parking brake cable.
Nope. smaller and thinner. you need one or two of those though
Since we last chatted, this guy came to live with us.
He is very playful, and social! On Sunday he was sitting on the couch w/ our boy watching football. Just chillin'...He is a handsome one. Does he like to play fetch?
It seems someone was selling a slightly longer cable that would accommodate the 5 speed.
In a happy accident, I found this thread: 1977 FJ40 H55F Extended Parking Brake Cable - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/1977-fj40-h55f-extended-parking-brake-cable.1184824/#post-12886487![]()

Well the 46410-60050 p/n no longer returns a good hit in the Toyota system, but there are no redirects. My parts guy thought that was odd.I ordered one of each from the local parts counter, they said I could bring my old cable in and choose the one I want.
