With all tire reviews and questions I thought I would give a quick review of the Cooper STT 285/75/16. It is my first "modification" to my truck. I really prefer to make one addition at a time, see what the results are and then plan the next addition. Can't always do this but I like to when I can. The tires took little to balance and ride very well on the road. I had Michelins prior and they don't ride or sound like them but that is expected. I was running TSL's on my last rig just to put it in perspective. They ride great and are quiet enough for my tastes. I have not been on a real trail ride yet but did test them a bit at my dad's over the weekend. They seemed to clean very well and dig very fast. No real "rock" data as I am in Middle TN so hopefully someone else can comment on that front. I like my choice and glad I went with them, time will tell the rest of the story. On to the next mod..............very happy with this one!

Nice looking ride, and tires. Just bought my LC today and shes gonna need tires before long, what does a set like that cost?

I agree they are really nice tires. I just replaced a worn set of 285/75R16 MT/Rs with a set of 305/70R16 STTs from Discount Tire in Spokane, for around $1500 (for 5) mounted, balanced, road hazard and 8.8 % tax.

They ride a lot nicer than the Goodyears ever did, but I do notice the extra 8 pounds weight (each) of the larger rubber, and the steering is less precise now. I plan to really test them out this summer on the Colorado Plateau around Siverton.

I'm turning into a huge Cooper fan - this is the third set in my garage now.

I really have been considering these tires...people have said quite a few good things about them and the price is a nice point too....

I am 20K miles into mine and I have been on a 5 tire rotation. I have been nothing but happy with them and just from looks they appear to be wearing very well. I will have to break out the ruler and snap some pics this week for you guys.

Good to know. My tire guy mentioned these when I put the Revo's on. He's big on American tires and HATES the French brands!

Jeez I just bought them 10 days ago, and with the price of gas I just don't drive the truck very much. After some summer forest road running and other stuff I'll post pics and a report on my home page.

After my Silverton trip in August, I'll have a ton of cool pics... I hope.

They sure look nice... the extra width of the 305s makes the truck look tough.

yeah i have the stt's in a 285 75 16 and my rig has the ome 2.5 lift and i drive on the backroads and uo to the mtn for work everday before the roads are ploughed and they work amazing i havent tried them on the trails yet soon tho summer is just around the corner....will keep you posted

I am curious about how the STTs work on icy roads. I need to get some better tires for the :princess:'s 4Skinner. I have TrXus MTs on my 80, and they are the shiznet but they are a little loud on the road. I was gonna just go with BFG ATs but I like the look of these tires. However, excellent ice manners and a mild howl at most are prereqs. Any input?

I switched to STTs from BFG ATs around the first of the year and the Coopers feel better on ice.
They are also much noisier but I don't notice ...... I just turn up the stereo :D. A thinner tire might be a bit quieter.

If you are coming into the south part of town PM me and you can take a ride and listen to them.

I have been driving on a lot of snow and ice this year and they work great. I have my center blocks siped. Never felt out of control. Not as goos as a dedicated snow tire but damn good:beer:

I've been running these for a year and a half. My observations.

I've got 15-18k on them now
They grip wet/dry rocks like a cholla cactus
they chunk a lot at 15psi
they ride on the street well
not to noisy
I've torn 2 sidewalls and had them replaced
I think I'll be lucky to get much more than 35k out of them
Did I mention they've the the G.I. Joe Kung-Fu grip?

Running 315's on 16x8 black steel rims, 4.88 gears

I'm looking at the BFG KM2 or the cooper stt's. Any experience from anyone that has run both? The KM2's are about $70/tire more than the Cooper STT.

i've got the copper stt in 35/12.50/17 on my tundra, and love them, great in the mud, the clean out real well, not so good in the sand tho, I've got about 26k on them and will be needing new ones soon

Love mine too. Put 285s on about 10,000 miles ago. They are decent in all the nasty weather we get here in the Pacific Northwest. Cost $1088 for 4, balanced and mounted.

Hi Curt,

So 6 years later, what are your impressions of the cooper? How many miles did you get out of them? How are they overall as a tire. I'm very intrigued by the 305/70R16.

Thanks,

Andrew
