Thank you @Greg_B! I appreciate it. And a huge shout out to @ikarus, @duece71 , and @Greg_B for sharing their experience and advice!

I may just get a section of Gates hose (5/8" ID...correct???) to make the connection between the outlet of the cabin heater at the firewall (not the rear heater connection!!) back to the engine if my current hose (shown in the photo above in my previous post #19 as Toyota part # 87209-60150) doesn't reach or is kinked in some way. This is the only piece of the puzzle left for me to figure out.

Howdy @HillCountryTX! What did you end up choosing to do here? I'm also considering using a section of Gates hose because I don't want to wait for 87209-60360. I do have a 1HD-FT so @ikarus's solution of 87209-60360 will probably work plug-and-play for me but I'm curious.

@kenavt, great question! I plan on doing a short write-up (with photos hopefully) at some point on this rear heater delete in a 91 HDJ81 (1HD-T). To your question, in terms of the coolant hose that goes from the outlet of the cabin heater at the firewall (not the rear heater connection) to a metal "tee" and then back to the engine, I tried to keep it simple (albeit more coolant hose connections are present that just running a brand new, uninterrupted coolant hose between those points). All I did was disconnect the outlet hose from the rear heater at the "tee" connection, and simply capped the "tee" connection with a 1/2inch silicone coolant cap. To be clear, this is the metal "tee" connection that faces down (towards the ground) on the outlet side of the coolant hoses on the firewall. Hope this helps!

Thanks, this does help! I did not realize that 1/2” silicone caps intended for high-temp coolant loops existed - that is a straightforward solution to this problem.

I’ll also look at using a straight Gates hose like the 1FZ folks do and I think @duece71 did, but I feel like that will be too sharp of a bend for it to make. I also dont want to take @ikarus ’s path of waiting for 87209-60360 to arrive from overseas and then stretch it to work either. but that’s probably the right long-term option.

Turns out a straight 5/8” Gates Safety Stripe hose is the move for me too. Since I have the hose aligned with the angle it wants to bend (from being taken off a reel), it fits great!

Glad it worked out @kenavt! Looks great and is a simple, reliable solution!

I wanted to follow-up and provide some photos and a description of what I ended up doing for those looking to do something similar.

I used two 1/2 inch diameter high temperature silicone hose caps (designed for capping automotive coolant lines) to plug up the two hardline rear heater connections located on the firewall. I left everything else associated with the rear heater intact; I just capped it off. I used a third 1/2 inch diameter high temperature silicone cap to cap the downward facing end of the metal "tee" on the outlet side of things where it used to connect with the outlet from the rear heater line.

Here is a photo of the silicone cap (see blue cap) on the metal "tee". You can also see a new silicone black cap just to the right in the photo as well. This silicone black cap closes off the outlet from the rear heater.

Below is a photo of the other silicone black cap that closes off the inlet to the rear heater (see the shiney black nub just barely visible). This photo also shows the new OEM coolant hose (87245-60420).

Hope this helps!
