I did a pretty narly hill Climb in my Toyota surf (2Lte with 3L head) and when I shut it off I noticed the coolant was boiling in the reservoir. I let it cool down until it was fine.
It has never overheated before and was fine driving home after.
Should I be a worried ?
When I bought it 8months the head had just been redone so hopefully not a headgasket

@GTSSportCoupe is the 2Lte Guru.

In general terms, it sounds like it started to overheat, and then the temperature came down. When it's cool, I'd check to make sure your radiator is full and there aren't trapped pockets of air in the cooling system. I don't know if there are any tricks to burp your cooling system or if it needs them.

I agree with what bikersmurf wrote. This is pretty nuts weather, and I think you just got it too hot. Surf's have a notorious dead zone on their factory temp gauge. There is a fix for it by changing a resistor, or just get an aftermarket one.
