I know I'll sound like a prick, but no brush should ever go near paint. Microfiber only, and always using a 2-bucket method to minimize and chance of scratches.

Last night this Great Blue Heron was dead center on Davis Crossing Rd.

I had to bump it to get it to fly off.

It pooped as it did making a life memory for a 10 year old boy
 
Nolen is right, you wont notice it on a light colored car, but any darker shade will show what even the softest bristle can do. Hell, even dust will scratch paint. But, even on a lighter colored truck, the scratches (which you can not see) can greatly reduce the paints life, so I say always use best practices, even when you can't tell the difference.

I have seen Microfiber f'up paint as bad as any brush also. Don't ever get one close to a PVD finish on a wheel.

I only wash my trucks to get major dirt off them. When I got out of the sports car game I got out of detailing a car/truck. My rigs are scratched up from getting used. Ohh well I will pull the trigger on the brush above.

If the MF screwed up the paint, it was because the washer didn't use them correctly. MF will hold on to grime well, and if they are not properly rinsed often they will rip clear coat to pieces. I will rinse, low power pressure wash, foam cannon, 2 bucket wash with multiple micro fiber rags, low pressure rinse, and then shammy dry with an Absorber. Works very well, and leaves no scratches. When using the MF, fold into 4ths, and it gives to 8 clean surfaces per rag.

I don't really have this much interest since my cars are all above the 150k mark.
Clear coat is going to prevent all abrasion to paint so I can't see the point going through all this... unless you are a vette owner

I just try to get the car soaked with water to loosen the dirt before scrubbing anything.


Washing a big cruiser with a tiny micro towel is going to be a painfully long day.
 
It does take a while, but I enjoy it; it's therapeutic. 2hrs from start to finish

Pretty sure that bottom mark is my fault; Bomar's got a matching one. I couldn't keep you guys far enough off those roots jutting out the side of that narrow dump out to the creek.
