Cool box not working

This is what I was referring to. Sorry, if I misled, as I do not have the wiring diagrams for this, but given the options quoted, this sounds most like a sensor problem.

Ah. I see there be a pile o' parts to check... Didn't see that part list post. ;)

When my fan runs, which isnt often, it sounds bad like it is working at 25%.

So nobody has fixed this? How many of is are driving around with broken co boxes?

A light switch failed the other day. This 200 is turning into a s*** sandwich.

Anyone ever removed the cool box? i'd rather have the storage space than a little cooler.

Turn it off and put stuff in there? The Cool-Box is basically 5"x9"x11" with a little wiggle room...

I'd bet you could find a zippered organizer that would fit it pretty nicely...

Two of these would fit perfectly:

Tons of other smaller combos...

I know that the toolbox reduces over-all size...but it might still be a useful space with the right packing organizer... ;)

Also... THREE of these in different colors would fit PERECTLY as they are 1.5"x9"x11" (or TWO really STUFFED ones)...

I took my Cruiser on it's first road trip in quite some time this past weekend.
So it could just be me not remembering how it works.

I noticed my 2 liter of pop was not cold but actually hot, and the blower in the cool box was blowing hot air.

I never noticed that happening before. It was near freezing outside and the cabin heat was on.

I am now wondering if it only works if the AC is on, or is there now a problem with it.

Best I can remember is that whenever the cool box is turned on, it always kept things cold.
I never remember it heating anything up before.

Is me doing something wrong here, or is it broke.
I think my Cruiser still has some warranty left, but not much.

2011. Mine is blowing hot air too

Owners manual says the front AC is supposed to turn on when the cooler box is on, and it may not work if the outside temp is 32 or less. HTH

Mine has occasionally stopped working. Each time I just need to tap the inside front next to where the fan is and it will start blowing cold air. The fan appears to have developed a dead spot and will likely need replacing at some point.

Thanks guys for the info.
My blower was working fine, just was blowing hot air like the heater was on inside the cool box.
It was cold out. But I think we were above freezing. I am thinking I may have an actual problem with it.
4 zone climate was on but since it was cold out it was heating the rear cabin rather then cooling.

If I understand the comments posted, anytime the cool box is turned on it kicks on the compressor.
That gives me someplace to start, by making sure the compressor is working.

Started driving yesterday when outside temp was 10 degrees. Cool box was blowing hot air. As we went south, I turned it on and checked it periodically. It never blew cool air until the temps were above 35 degrees. By the time I got home, temp was 37 degrees and cool box was nice and cool.

These posts are super helpful as when we returned from visiting family with some leftovers and a 5 hour drive, I thought to use the coolbox. Temps never over 30* the whole way back, 4 zone climate ranging from 73-78*.

Had a water bottle freeze from sitting overnight in the cupholder and tossed that in the coolbox also. At the end of the trip, contents of coolbox were warm AND the ice in the bottle completely back to liquid state (and even a little warm).

I wasn't aware that the coolbox/ AC compressor required an outside temp above 35* but will keep this in mind going forward.

Glad to find this thread! On a road trip and it is cold. Blow freezing cold. Had not ever read about the cool box not working when outside temps are under 35. They were. And I can confirm that the cool box didn’t work. Had to throw out some food we had in there for our lunch. Won’t do that again. When the temps be cold, we’ll now thing of this as a warm box. I’ll keep my gloves and cap in there. 👸

Ok, pulling this thread back up. It's been some time and I've been simply living with the broken cool box. During this time I've learned that sometimes the unit does work. Main and rear AC is on and works great. Cool box pwr button is illuminated. Sporadically the fan just comes on and it's super cold. This happens maybe like once every other week or so. When it does come on it works for the entire time the car is on till I turn off the car. Next time on startup it no longer works. Of that laundry list of items that can go wrong, does anyone have any ideas? I was just going to replace the fan unit but it seems to work great when it does come on.

I have a 2008 with the same issue, which started about 3 years ago. My dealer diagnosed the problem as a bad fan and quoted $900 to fix it. Apparently it's a labor intensive job. So I've been living without the coolbox. It still comes to life now and then, but it seems to be completely random. Did you ever figure out a solution?
