Cool box not working

This just happened to me. Outside temps were ~36, threw a Chick-fil-A wrap in the cool box and sidearm was shoved between the seat and center console. After a few hours, heat was radiating from the seat (thought the seat heater was on), sidearm was HOT, and eventually opened the cool box to get the wrap and noticed hot air blowing.
I was really confused since the AC was on and functioning normally.

I went to some dark places like TC overheating or some random circuit about to catch fire. Glad I found this thread!
Well...
If you were in the 80 series forum, everybody would have said you have a blown head gasket. So, I guess you got that going for ya.

To my surprise, I have an update for this thread. I recently had my AC recharged and my coolbox is suddenly working again after years of being switched off. Now, I'm wondering if low refrigerant pressure might have been the issue all along.

Just got back from COTR5, cool box was working at the beginning of the trip but on the way back home, I notice the cool box was warm and could feel heated air being blown in. I double checked the AC was on and it was. It was cool outside like 50F so I’d still expect the cool box to work as long as AC was on. I don’t think it’s the fan as I could feel air in the cool box. I need to read this whole thread in more detail (sorry if the answer is in here and I just missed it) but it seems most of the thread discussion is the big repair labor for replacing the fan. My fan seems to work. What else could it be?

Parts diagrams seem to indicate there is a refrigerant valve inside the coolbox. Name is "Valve assy, cooler magnet" with part number 88690-60280

Probably worth checking to see if this thing is getting the proper signal to activate.

Is the little green light at the button turning on?

are you sure it wasn't below 50? And is the cool box working now or it's still busted?
I've noticed mine stop working in the 30s, but goes back to normal when temps rise (even though AC is on).

@bloc, yes the green light was on. @radman, dash read like 59 on way home when I noticed the hot air.
