Can you pass California smog with a SC and tune onboard? I know from personal experience an aux tank is an issue.
I know the Magnuson SC is CARB compliant. Not sure about anything else

I don't really follow, you don't drive around at WOT all the time do you? When you want to pass or jump at a stop light it makes a huge difference. If you're just cruising down the road at constant speed and not in boost your fuel economy doesn't move much if at all.

No but I drive "city" conditions all the time with plenty of stop and go which means acceleration

I'm just saying personally I wouldn't put a SC unless I was going to use (and enjoy) it. for example by passing or jumping at stop lights a lot more than I was doing before

I’d be curious of the rotor dimensions on that setup.

You can run the most epic caliper possible, but if there isn’t enough mass and cooling capacity in the rotor it’ll all just overheat too quickly to be useful anyway.

It’s the standard 6 pot Wilwood 200 kit with 14.25 rotors in the front with a slight tweak (didn’t specify). It works on some method wheels as the wheel barrel is flared in a way to allow more rotor clearance. Icon wheels and others don’t have the same flare. In the rear it’s a different story and takes much more work for the Wilwood kit to work with 17’s and the clearance is very close. His 200 uses 705 beadgrip wheels.

Go buy a Miata

Because Miata is always the answer? How about a supercharged Miata?

Full disclosure, I love Miatas

@PhillipPinot - fellow San Diegan here and relatively new to the 200-series scene (hello everyone!). Harry and the team helped me install mine and it fell right where I expected it to be. On paper, the numbers would suggest that you'd be roughly on par with a stock S2000 as an example in terms of 0-60 and 1/4 times but it feels slower than that given the height and heft, which to me add to the fun but YMMV. I've had a ton of fun sports cars over the years and comparing an SC'd 200 vs any of those is like apples and oranges since they feel completely different. The reason I went with one was to reduce the gear hunting on the 8 speed auto for hill climbs and just general drivability with gobs of low to mid end torque. I'll just say that it's definitely worth taking a drive in a SC'd 200 before you take the plunge as the perceived gains are all relative to where you're coming from. Happy to let you take it out for a ride if that'll help you decide. Cheers!

Agreed. When I got my OTT tune, there was a guy there with a SC'd Tundra. He took me for a ride while we were waiting for the tune. Fun and grins is what it produces. If you can swing it, I just don't see enough of a negative to not do it.

Dude you rock. I may take you up on that offer, although I’m pretty set on getting it. Lol!! Who tuned yours?

My man! Let us know your thoughts when you get it on.

They flashed it with the Magnuson tune that comes with the kit. I don't intend on getting a custom tune beyond that given CA restrictions. You could always switch back to the Magnuson tune before a smog inspection but doesn't seem worth it to me.

ChatGPT is telling me to upgrade the transmission oil cooler. Did you (or anyone else reading this?)

How did it miss this thread till now? Why not to get and SC.
One of most reliable vehicles on road and your going to change that via forced induction. Which will put more stress on all engine parts shortening the reliability.
It is getting harder and harder to find good LC200s. Much less engines for LC200s see above reason.
You are more likely to get a ticket now with all the extra umph.
Worse than bad gas mileage and itty bitty tank.
If your significant other is like mine the blank stares and what were you thinking are going to get more frequent. (Note Lover her any way)
You lack the maturity to handle a SC, it would be like giving a 5 year old a dozen loppy pops and can of red bull. It is not going to end well.

Dang, you should probably email Toyota and tell them how bad them messed up.

I got 19.5mpg going from my place in Denver up to camp at Grizzly lake trail head and back. Same as I could get stock. Get 12.5mpg around town being easy on the throttle. If I'm going on I-70 across Kansas best I get is 16.5mpg IIRC. I'm 45 years old and to me a SC is like having a concealed carry. When you have a scenario when you need it, it's like- surprise beyotch! But to each their own, I get it, it's not for the faint of heart and all upgrades come with some downsides. YMMV
