considering the breakage this weekend....

it also seems to me the sleeping bags and food, drink would cover more than just one kind of break down

yeah, I can see it right there in my mind: y'all leaving to get the parts and leave me to guard my truck against cruiser vultures at night :hillbilly: (it's not like I don't carry extra water and mongo food and protection, already, of course )

not that I have ever encountered any such vultured creature :meh:

and BTW, Kevin, the wire for your brother's "Blazeresque" exhaust fix came out of MY spare parts box - last I checked, he still had it on his truck :flipoff2:

Are you saying that you want it back?:D

just saying there is more where it came from :flipoff2:

You guys will probably find it funny, what I carry for spares. Since it a PITA to put them in and take them out, they are always in the rig. I won't bore you with the details, but suffice it to say, if I had spare axles, I would carry them.

I have to chime in to say that when I first saw this thread I was puzzled. I have tons of spare parts- at home. There are so many things that might possibly break that it's not likely that I'll have the right one when I need it, and so many of the parts (on an 80, at least) that I could simply remove if they broke and limp home, that it just doesn't make sense to pack even more crap in there. Tools I got, chemicals, fluids, survival gear I got, a couple of fuses, some duct tape and bailing wire I got, spare parts I don't got. That's why I wheel with groups, so if something catastrophic happens I'll have help.

The only part I ever broke (versus simply wore out, which you can see coming in most cases) on my 40 with a 350 was the t-case- cracked. Heck, I didn't even notice that one right away, the puddle in the driveway alerted me to it.

Certain setups beg certain spares to be handy. Your tire size doesn't put your axles at high risk. Having the spares at home is a great idea, but carrying a spare rolling chassis with you is probably not reasonable. Do what you will, but know that if you ever get in a bind I'll do whatever I can, including shlepping you to Marana or home or NAPA, to get you out of it, whether I was with you or not that day. You have friends. :D

An amplifier for your CB speaker might be a good piece of equipment to find room for, since you frequently seem to be unable to hear it. :flipoff2:
