Considering bigger tires? (1 Viewer)

After a lot of reading here on IH8MUD, I decided to go with a larger tire on my 2006 LC.

I went with a 275/70/18 Michelin LTX AT2 and pushed both the front and rear AHC to their highest setting. I am very happy with the look. I wanted to go with a look between a mall Cruiser and a full offroad look. I think I'm right in the middle.

The 275/70/18 tires fit great and ride quality is great as well.

you can get 2 more inches of (perceived) lift by removing the running boards

I went with the Michelins because they were not quite as aggressive looking as the BFGs. Ride quality was also important because I'm only off road about once a month(though I wish more). I got an excellent price at Sears and a rebate as well.

Brilliant idea on removing the running boards. I never use them anyway.

How are those Michelins weight-wise? Did you notice a difference in acceleration off the line? Any difference in gas mileage?

The only difference I really notice is the extra height due to the AHC lift and larger tire. The ride quality is about the same even though I went from a Michelin Tour Latitude to the Michelin LTX AT2. The Latitudes may be a bit quieter but not much more. The look makes the AT2 worth it.

I havent considered the gas mileage because I have a beat up 1997 Honda Accord I drive to work daily. I'm only in the LC on weekends and dates with the Mrs.

I'll have to post a review on off road performance of the AT2 later...

Looking good,I like your rig! I am also happy with the 275/70-18's size,but I am running the BFG's AT's.As a Wife/mall/pavement pounder cruiser,I still really like the more agressive BFG's.They handle and ride great,but I am sure the Mich.handle alot better!

I have no idea what the AHC is like as we have an 04.I am thinking just a mild OME lift would be good to gain more height and also take off the running boards.

Based on all of our research it certainly looks viable. Just need to jump off the high dive ...oh yeah I need a few more spanish lessons first
