Hello, I'm adding Air Lift bags, and have the OME 2865 springs, so have about 2" lift. I'm reading a mixed bag of what to do in old posts, sounds like some guys just run the standard Air Lift 60728, some guys cut the bump stop to leave 2", and it sounds like some have ordered longer bags. What I can't tell is if it all works just fine, or if there's a "right" way to do it. Unfortunately Air Lift is apparently on a lean staff with the pandemic and I can never seem to get through on their 800 line, emails aren't returned, etc. Anyone running them with the 2865/865 springs that can share what they did? Thanks!

Perhaps you should contact OME about the internal diameter of the coils? I have a spare bladder that I can measure and give you the circumference to ensure it will fit inside of your spring, if that would help. Measure thrice, do it once.

Thanks for the offer! Sadly I bought the airbags before it occurred to me they might be too short. I think they're good on diameter though, would have to be to match the perches right?

I would check with Airbag Man Australia, Air bag suspension for TOYOTA LAND CRUISER 100 Series HDJ100, HDJ101R
Although I am in the states, they were really helpful by email. They sell Firestone bags but also offer a kelvar sleeve to keep them from popping.

Will definitely give them a shout, thanks. The kevlar sleeves sound like a great idea. 👍.

The million dollar question I guess (well, like $85 anyway) is if the two additional inches of compressed spring height are going to matter. Anybody running these with lift?

The bladders work primarily by expanding outwards between the springs, increasing the effective spring rate. They do grow up and down a bit though. Ideally, the top of the bladder never touches anything. As long as the bladder can fit inside of the coil spring, you should be fine with just removing the whole bump stop. I run OEM springs though, so everything above doesn't directly answer your question, sorry.

Well, I bit the bullet and just stayed on hold for 45" until I could talk to someone. They were very helpful, and said I should get taller bag. And if course you were right, the diameter can vary too, it just sits a little higher on the perch with a thicker coil. I just need to measure the spring and leave a voicemail, then they'll call or email with the right part. Easy peasy...I'll come back and update this with what I wind up with for posterity's sake.

I'm glad you're making progress. If you just buy the individual bags from them, you can source the tubing, T-junctions, zip ties, and schrader valve(s) from your vendor of choice, or maybe just buy a kit from them.

Expect to pay ~$50 per bag direct from Airlift. That is what they charged me for a spare.

Oh, and don't forget to enlarge the hole (generously) on the bottom spring perch so the clip can freely move through it. Otherwise, it can get caught and pull the air line off of the bag nipple.

Just circling back on my own thread here with an update in case anyone searches this down the road. Installed in my unloaded truck, the Old Man Emu 2865 (aka 865) springs measure out to about 11" high and 5.75" internal diameter. Per Air Lift, the best spring would then be their part number 60927, which has the same internal diameter as the 60728 spring they recommend for factory springs, but are longer at 10.5" tall for added lift from the OME spring.

I also have to say for the record they were very helpful. They're swamped right now with calls and I'm guessing staffing issues, and the guy I spoke with really helped me out with his direct extension, a return call after hours with the info, etc. I wonder if they're so busy because so many people like me are buying travel trailers and boats during COVID-19?

Sounds fantastic

Did you end up installing the 60927 bags in the 2865 springs? I'm running the same springs and am back and forth on which bags to get.

Do the 2 kits 60728 and 60927 contain the same air spring? It looks like 60927 might have spacers as well?, or is the 927 air spring actually longer?

I have 728's in my LX w/ Ironman 2" lift spring.. and the top/bottom of airsprings dont touch. Id prefer that they did... i think.

Did you completely remove the rubber bump stop from the interior of the spring?
