I'd like to install a high-end Compustar alarm/remote start system on my 2008 Toyota Land Cruiser. They are insanely expensive to have installed professionally (around $1,000+ depending on options), but after lots of research it seems it can be done DIY for much, much cheaper. I just want to make sure I properly understand the install process and equipment needed:

  1. Firstech DC3 bypass/alarm/remote start as the main brain/controller and bypass module. ($106 on Amazon)
  2. Use software to flash/program DC3 module for correct vehicle (free on Firstech's website)
  3. Ideally use a wiring harness to avoid complexity and save time (not sure one is available for 08 TLC...not a big deal, I'm good with wiring.)
  4. Install DC3 compatible antenna (ANT-2WDSS ) to receive signal from compatible remote(s). ($90 on Fleabay)
  5. Compustar T13 remote ($140 on Fleabay)
  6. Install any extra security alarm stuff one might want...window break sensor, sirens, etc. (Compustar Alarm It Kit $60) possibly program this info DC3 firmware.
If this is correct, I could have a $1,000+ system for under $400....which would be very nice. I just want to make sure I'm not missing something or going to run into problems with some proprietary roadblock or special programming that I will be unable to access as a lowly DIY'er. I have RTFM (here) and my understanding remains as above, but I'm new to all this and it's sufficiently complex that I realize I might be missing something. Thanks in advance!

There have been some posts where the Toyota immobilizer didn’t play nice.

I don’t remember the specifics sorry.
Try immobilizer as a term?

Man, not finding much on 200's or LX570's (other than obvious stuff like flood damage), but seeing quite a bit of stuff about 100's. Anyway, looks like this is actually a pretty simple procedure as far as wiring into the immobilizer. I'm going to de-pin the connection going into the ECU and keep these wires fully intact, then install them on a separate male/female Toyota connector pair.....the 11 re-routed ECU wires on one side, corresponding immobilizer wires on other side. This way I can reverse the installation if needed without cutting or splicing any wires at all. I'd just need to reinsert them into the ECU connectors.

Actually, instead of one connector pair, I'll probably end up with 2-3 different male/female pairs like this, as I imagine there will be at least 2 size of pins, high and low current analog, maybe even smaller ones for digital).

Install instructions for 2008 TLC w/ PTS are here: https://images.idatalink.com/vehicl...ndCruiser_2008_8628)-EN-A_20211130_160000.pdf
