Needs to be fairly smallish, quite and make enough air for my IR 1/2 gun and a small hand angle grinder.

Any ideas?

I have been needing one myself but keep spending the money on parts for the 60. I was gonna go with a Quincy or Champion but may just go to Tractor Supply and buy an IR 5hp 60gal. for $800. Not like i'm gonna paint vehicles or change tires for a living so why spend another $500 for a better one.

Both of those tools use a bunch of CFM.

Get the biggest (60gallon) one you can fit in your garage and can afford.

I have a 60 gallon 14.8 CFM Cast Iron Cambell Hausfield. Got it used in 2001 and rebuilt the head. Been using it ever since. Change oil once year and drain the water every month during the humid seasons.

I got a IR 2 stage 80 gal from Tractor Supply last year. They were the cheapest price I found including online.

Sounds like what I need, would like a two stage, quieter and build air much faster. Hard to find tho.

Rob,
Send me a PM with your phone info and such. My phone gave up the ghost. As for compressors, I got a bit lucky. A guy about an hour away had rented a warehouse and all he had in it was a compressor, dryer, material cart, office desk, and a CNC lathe. he manufactured fittings for Wagner paint guns. It was a two man show, ran the lathe all day and is set to retire from it! Long story short, after he closed his shop he was looking to get rid of everything he had as quickly as possible so he wouldn't have to pay more rent. I walked out of there with an IR 100 Gallon 7.5hp compressor, IR 115V refrigerated dryer, IR inline filter, Automatic drain valve, all lines, pneumatic vise, material cart, cold rolled material, and lots of little doo-dads (no lathe, of course) for $1000 US. The catch: the compressor is 3 phase. So i built a rotary phase converter for about $500 and now for $1500 I have a bitchin air setup and 3 phase capabilities. Moral of the story is that 3 phase equipment is often much cheaper than single phase and built to used and rotary phase converters are a great value. It may be out of the budget but with the work you do I don't think air is a place to skimp.

Thanks David, that is a smoking deal, air is no place to skimp.....

I have turned away from a couple units because they were 3 phase, thats a great option.
