Hey dudes,

Does anyone know what type of thread is on the bolts of the rear companion flange from an HJ75 (unsure of year) with H55F & split case.

I am refurbishing this tranny and transfer to put in my HJ47, the threads currently on this companion flange are pretty stuffed and I was hoping to recut the threads with a die, but the thread type looks pretty uncommon; I measured it to be 11mm in major diameter with a 1mm thread pitch. M11 x 1 ???

I wanted to avoid replacing the whole companion flange because I have already replaced the oil seal and nut. But, if a die for this thread will be too hard / expensive to procure, I'll just buy a new one.

Cheers,

Matt

On my 2001 Hzj79 with the R151F the rear studs were 11mm with a thread pitch of 1, though the front was the smaller 10mm. Not to sure if this helps but Toyota does put these studs in. I was able to buy replacement nuts from Toyota, my studs were fine. You can replace the studs by simply pounding them out, you could with the R151, I would think the same would be for the h55F.

Joel.

Cheers Joel, good idea, I'll try and get my hands on some new studs.

Cheers,

Matt

Got 'em

They were about $3 each, local Toyota supplier had four in stock. Perfect! Looks like they are made out of a different (cheaper?) material. They feel lighter than the old ones.

Now to get the last stubborn one out. I've tried tapping it (not going to go whacking the thing with the companion flange still installed) and also using a g-clamp. Might have to grind it off. Or maybe just heat it up. We'll see.
