Same here, and If I'm driving the 91 most of the other 80 series folks don't have a clue that I'm driving an 80 too.

I passed a 55 on the interstate and waved and the guy didn't understand why I was waving. Arghhhh!

Collector's edtion has badges and floor mats. I've seen them in Black and White. 40ths had the Sage paint option and some other colors. I'm getting too old I can't remember stuff.

I just waved from my 80 last week to a guy in a 60 and he gave the biggest suprise smile and wave back. I'm sure most people don't expect the 80 or 100 to give the wave.

The 40th was available only in Green and Sage. The collector was available in all standard colors. Sage was only used on the 40th.

Hey Lars,

Who's sporting the Knight's Cross?

It's hard to tell from the pic, oakleaves too?

I passed a nice green/white '78-'79 FJ55 on my lunch a little while ago - guy gave me a big smile and wave...even in my 80 :D He was getting it too...must have been doing 65-70 in that piggy - wish mine would go that fast :o

Good eye Dan.

'gold' oak leaves, swords and diamonds added to the Knights Cross. The gold oak leaves created for and awarded to him only.

Hans Ulrich Rudel.... Stuka Pilot.

Ah yes,

I saw Adolph Galand's (at least I think it was his) at the Champlin fighter museum. That one was oak leaves, swords and diamonds.

Imagine what that thing is worth.....

That was Erich Hartmann's and someone stole it a few years ago.

I had a good friend that was a Stuka pilot on the Russian front if I remember correctly. We spent many days fishing together and he had some wonderful stories to tell. Hans Wohlbier was his name.

I stand corrected, I remember his name now. Was it stolen from the museum?

I like the small supercharged under the 40th. Did you have it made?
I could use a few of those for the Cruzer and the Tacoma....

Dan, unfortunately it was stolen from the museum.

Hartmann spent 10 years in a Soviet Gulag after the war and then came to Arizona to train pilots at Luke AFB. He is the top fighter ace of all time with 352 confirmed kills.

-B-,

I bet your friends stories were amazing. If you can find a copy of "Stuka Pilot" give it a read. Fascinating stuff.
