Went to repaint my front bumper this weekend and was looking for the paint codes. Found the sticker on the DS door which said 1A5. I have a Desert Dune truck which is that light beige metallic color. The 1A5 I see at places like PaintScratch.com looks nothing like mine. The only search result I found for bumper paint codes was for a '99 100 series.
So I went to a paint shop and they too couldn't find any reference to the gray metallic color of the bumpers in their books. Even a body shop guy came out to look around my truck to see if they could spot something to tell what the color of the trim was...no luck.
Finally, I just grabbed the shops chip book and tried to compare the DuPont chips specified as Totota Land Cruiser bumper colors for '97 (of which to my surprise there were quite a few!) and came up with what was called Gray Metallic (surprise!) with a code of UCAA3.
Painted the bumper and side plastic wings, and it matched the original color very well; I am quite happy with the outcome. I was just wondering in retrospect if I just chose the right color, or if there is some other "official" color that I didn't get? Anyone else run into this?
