The -9 morning won today, the LC wont start. Slow crank and now it is flooded. It tried to fire a few times but just didn't catch. A call to AAA said it will not be until after noon until they may get here. I even tried with my jump pack but no success.
 
Any details on your battery? Age, type, etc.
 
Mine cranks fine in the bitter cold. The only issue I have had is anything in the single digits and below, the wiper fluid freezes somewhere in the lines. Flushed the system with new fluid and still freezing somewhere. LC is the only car to do this in my fleet (Honda, Subaru, other Toyotas).
 
Christo, would this be good practice for when ever its really cold out or only if it wont start normally the first time? how many cranks till the engine gets flooded?

No, that is only the procedure to get it started when it is flooded.

I don't think it will start at 7v. I believe the test is at the ECU and the lowest is 9v while cranking.
 
Slow starting in the cold weather can be prevented by using a fresh battery.

I guess you could flood the engine by cranking it repeatedly with a tired old battery that is not strong enough to actually start the engine.

But the root cause of slow starting in the cold weather is the battery.

The battery has to be able to spin the engine fast enough to start.
Seven volts is not enough.

With a fresh high-quality battery, the LC starts fine down to about 40 below zero, even with no foot on the gas and no plug-in.

It was -20 here in Chicago the other night and my 01' which unfortunately does sit outside was slow to start but did fire up within seconds.
 
-10 plus wind chill here in PA last night. The battery was a True Start from Toyota but it was only a few years old. I have noticed it cranking a little slower lately but wasn't really concerned due to the temp, I thought it was just the thick oil slowing it down.

I don't know if I caused the issue to be worse by lightly pressing the pedal while starting it possible causing it to give more gas than needed. My wife is the main driver of it and I am sure she never touches the pedal while starting it. I got it towed to the shop and load tested the battery and it was weak, of course I cranked the crap out of it already too.

I pulled the plugs, bosh platinum installed by the po, they were soaked. I put 8 new factory plugs in it, blew out the cyls that actually had raw gas in them still, installed a fresh battery and it fired right up. Changed the oil also.

I manage to destroy the PS reservoir while we were pushing the truck around. I guess it pushed the fluid back up into the reservoir and caused it to explode. That is a pricy mistake. So the truck is still at the shop until the new reservoir comes in but it is running and hope it starts better for the rest of the winter,
 
The last time the wife ran the battery down, she couldn't start it with a jump box. I got it started on the jump box, but had to pump the gas to get it fired, and a bunch of smoke blew out the exhaust. So it is probably easy to flood the engine if slow cranking.

Same here. But she had me worried. Always satisfying to break loose of the frozen tundra too after the truck has been sitting all night
