Anyone running cold air intake? What fits?

Also any idea if just putting the tundra air accelerator with say afe/k&n filter on stock box would get good results?

Not a lot people do this it seems however I have afe dry filter, DT short headers, and dirty deeds exhaust.

One part says to be safe and ask the community. Other part says just do it anyway. I'm leaning towards just do it anyway. Haha 😄

Yeah everybody is. The stock one is about as good as a CAI as you can get.

Save your pennies and stick with OEM filters too.

Stock intake is apparently good enough for the 500+ hp when people add a supercharger.. I can't see it being a restriction for the mods listed above.

Careful if your driving in dusty areas. The OEM seals pretty darn good. Even some good hacks to seal the OEM even more. You can dust the motor at worst or slowly burn out your CATs and O2 sensors with those K&N filters or the like. (been there) The gains are nil for the maintenance/cleaning required and even if it is maintained the high flow air intake do not filter the air the same as OEM. If you decide to go with it have your oil tested before and after. Also pull a few 02 sensors and take a picture and compare before and after. After 5000 miles. They flow because they don't filter.

This is precisely why I run stock paper filters on all of my vehicles. Given where the pickup is for the stock intake trumpet, dust is why I run the snorkel.

Yep. Standard paper filter keep it clean. With V8 motors you don't need to do much with the in side or the out side. Supercharge, cams, lifters, bore, headers if you need more power?

I tried the cold air intake route previously using a AEM sytstem. Intake temps were consistently higher than the OEM intake tube. No change in performance or MPG. The OEM air box is the way to go.

Get one of these. Moves the cai from the right front fender to the roof.

What about this:

I was watching the afe cold air intake install and noticed the design of the airflow as a diagonal cone. What if I shaved it down? I used a red marker to show what I would shave down.

It's almost similar in design to the tundra air accelerator or the afe intake design. Seems like the easy way to open up more air to the stock box whether using oem or performance filter.

Any thoughts?

Since there is already almost no restriction with the stock CAI and a clean OEM filter,

What are you aiming for... less than zero??? 🤪

Exactly my question.

If OP isn't actually looking for function and just has to modify it for the sake of modifying it, pick the one that looks the coolest. Otherwise without other huge horsepower adders (like a supercharger, though even that works great with the STOCK intake) there is no functional benefit.
