Hi - For whatever stupid reason...I left the ignition switch on and the coil is now fried....Since its Friday night and Toyota is closed and I want to drive in the nice warm weather this weekend I'm going to try and get a coil from Autozone or Advance Auto...
They wont have anything listed for a '65 f engine so what can I tell them to reference that will work for my engine?
Would just a universal "Accel" yellow coil work until I can get a toyota replacement?
Would I need to use a ballast resistor with a newer coil?
Sorry for the questions - I just want to enjoy the weather this weekend before it gets much colder....

The coil only needs a ballast resistor if the vehicle is equipped w/ ballast resistor bypass circuitry.

A 65 FJ40 does not have ballast bypass, so just buy a straight 12V, non-ballast coil. Yellow ones cost twice as much as black ones, w/ no performance difference.

I think you could use the bosch "blue" coil off the beetle.;)
